@@MattPendergraph Would be great if you could experiment with a hack squat set up on the trolley arms. Crossmember and leg rollers up top like this video and another crossmember used below to hold a wedge(s) in place for your feet. Could be a great product extension idea for rogue if they made removable wedges held in place by detent pins imo

Fantastic video, I have been struggling with setting up my jammer arms and almost gave up, have been thinking really hard how I can make them work as there is almost zero tension on your chest when you just use the default set up. Thanks for these ideas. BUT let me know what you think of the following...if you attach the jammer arms UPSIDE DOWN on the rack - with the bottom at a desired angle of course using spotter arms or a custom-made rack strip creating a triangle effectively - would then all tension land on your chest and be more efficient? The angle has to be further out then your arm length of course otherwise the whole thing would crash forward. Does this make sense to you?
@MattPendergraph
@MattPendergraph 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I will say that using the arms in the default vertical position (just hanging straight down) as a chest press is an absolute joke! There is little to no resistance, therefore is a waste of time IMO. HOWEVER, what you can do to combat this is to throw some spotter arms at the top of the lever arms and then attach weights to the spotters out in front of you. That DRAMATICALLY changes the resistance curve! Either that or you can throw the arms out complete horizontally (rest them on a spotter) and that also actually makes them useful
@customisedfitness
@customisedfitness 2 жыл бұрын
@@MattPendergraph Totally agree re the default position, I think jammer arms need to come with some sort of user manual/ideas as unless you make some modification ( a lot of it trial & error), they are just large pieces of useless metal attached to your power rack. The default position is better for pulling movements though.
@MattPendergraph
@MattPendergraph 2 жыл бұрын
@@customisedfitness Absolutely! That's pretty much the idea of my channel/IG. I try out various stuff and share my results in hopes that it's helpful to the community. There are literally so many different configurations you can rig up and I think you're right about some sort of guide/user manual as I'm sure a ton would benefit from it!

About to order an RM6 and trying to justify the trolley arms. Getting older and want something safer and stable for shoulders. Bench, press,etc. Regarding trolleys , any issues with moving them up and down, locking into place, functionality? Any regrets on shorter arms vs longer- seems like I’ve seen regrets for those getting longer more? Lastly, if shorter arms inside the rack, arm the flip downs better functionality thank straps? FWIW, prefer the mutton chops and goatee combo!!!
@MattPendergraph
@MattPendergraph 3 жыл бұрын
Lol... thank you!!...I love the facial hair combo as well!!....now if only I could get the Wife on board!!! Ha!!!....as far as the trolley arms...I have ZERO regrets about going with the shorter...to me...they just make the MOST sense!!.... and yes, they are shorter than the long arms, but honestly...they aren't short at all!!...lol...I feel like they are the perfect length!!!.....I personally prefer flip downs over the straps.. especially if you're purchasing the rack and adding the flip downs... you'll end up saving way more money going that route vs. if you buy the straps now and decide to add flip downs later!!!....now as far as moving the trolleys up and down...not gonna lie... they are HEAVY...which can make them a PAIN to move!!....that being said... once you learn them... you'll be able to move them wherever like a champ!!!!

QQ: for the belt squat and hack squat setup, could you use the flip down safety to connect the lever arms instead of a crossmember?
@MattPendergraph
@MattPendergraph 3 жыл бұрын
I wish!! Unfortunately not though due to the flip downs only have holes in the sides rather than a 4 way hole pattern. When you install a flip down, the holes end up pointing straight up and down rather than outward like you need for this setup...good question though!

I recently picked up an RM-6 and have been going back & forth on getting the trolley arms. After watching your squat set up, it made me think you could use these for standing and seated calf exercises. Have you ever used them for either exercise? I have Roque's Monster Hip Thruster Bench, which I'm thinking might work with the lever arms to do seated calf raises. I guess any kind of cross member would work and could be padded with towels etc. I've never been forced to improvise calf exercises because the gyms I've gone to have always had dedicated pieces. Getting a decent calf workout in seems to be somewhat of a challenge at home.
@MattPendergraph
@MattPendergraph 2 жыл бұрын
I have actually (not with the hip thrust pad, although that certainly sound like it would be comfortable). I've done seated with just a single arm and a leg roller and standing while using the crossmember and dual leg roller set up. Both work quite well if you're willing to set them up!
@billchurch4460
@billchurch4460 2 жыл бұрын
@@MattPendergraph Thanks for the feedback. I may have actually seen you doing seated raises with a leg roller in another video. Seems like I've seen someone doing that. The hip thruster bench is well padded on three sides and could potentially work well for that purpose. My rack has been "mostly assembled" for only about a week and it's going to be a journey figuring out what you can & can't do. I was pleasantly surprised how well dips work with a couple of weight storage pins and a flip down safety. Right now I have no regrets skipping the dedicated dip attachment. The trolley arm decision seems to be a battle between the versatility and the time/trouble of setting things up, plus the cost. You've definitely had some ingenious setups, which moves the needle towards pulling the trigger on them.

SO what's the benefit of using these arms when you can do all thoese exercises with landmine, barbell and dumbbells?? I wanted to get those arms but I don't know if I really need them? To be honest I do like them but now iam debating between the titan plate loaded functional trainer and these arms.🤔🤔 would like to know which of these two will be more beneficial to my gym, what do u think?? I really like your skin/levarage arm lat pull down:) If you had a separate lat pull down machine (valor one) and the leverage arms, will u sell the lat pull down machine and just use the leverage arms/slinger for lats or better to use the lat pull down machine?
@MattPendergraph
@MattPendergraph 3 жыл бұрын
If it came down to lever arms vs. a functional trainer, I'd personally go with a functional trainer. While you can perform quite a few movements with lever arms, I feel like most people would get more out of a functional trainer. As far as a lever arm pulldown vs a standalone pulldown machine, they are both extremely comparable IMO. The lever arm pulldowns feel fantastic!!

@@MattPendergraph How does it feel doing leverage arm belt squats? I been debating between making a small wood platform with a pulley to do cable belt squats or a leverage arm attach to rack post to do belt squats? I was thinking about getting one of thoese revolt leverage arms to do squats. I like that I can load plates on top instead of side and it seems that this way I can get a better angle that when attaching plates to the side of leverage arm. @@futbol1972 I'm personally not a fan of the lever arm belt squat (especially now that I've experienced the vertical pool of a cable belt squat). I always feel like I'm being pulled forward with a lever arm variant which completely throws me off personally! I have seen the revolt version that you speak of and honestly think it looks crazy awkward!! 😂. The arm appears incredibly short which seems like it would hinder the movement considerably (I may be completely wrong, but after playing around with several different setups at this point I just can't see that revolt being all that great)
