I can’t deny to say that this is pure epic! It kind of shows the fanfare opera and epic ness of Star Wars and then suddenly switches into a dark and realistic perspective, just like the movie was! The reason I like Rogue One above all other movies is because it shows the darker and more real side to the “War”, as it actually shows the Star Wars for the first time in depth, we see the darker side of the rebels, we see how they all have spies and espionage missions and etc... we see the empires political and military structure

This is the best trailer EVER. They took something everyone has grown up with and, without saying or showing ANYTHING NEW, they tell you EVERYTHING.

For something that spoils absolutely nothing. I already know that this is A - a Star Wars movie, B - much darker and dire than the other titles, and C - nodding to the previous movies, but telling a new and possibly more adult tale. This is how all teasers should be. To this day, I think this is one of my favorite trailers ever.

You know, when Kennedy said that there won't be a crawl, I was actually expecting them to have this because this isn't technically a crawl for Rogue One, and it's a nice way to implicitly explain where on the timeline this movie happens. But well!

Obviously this couldnt be the actual movie start..its allready telling you what will happen.. now yes we all know what would happen and that the rebellion would "win" the battle and the plans end at Leia's hands.. but then it would be a movie targeted only at old school fans.. there is lots of people who had not seen star wars or even only knew the (ajjj) prequel trilogy.. they can still watch Rogue One and then ANH

Confirmed. It says "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away", but there is no opening crawl. Was confirmed by a journalist that watched the first 15 minutes of Rogue One.

Apparently, the first cut of Rogue One was super dark and had a more serious tone to it. But Disney saw it and said there is no way in hell they were showing it. That's why this teaser was super eerie and had that tone.

They could have reversed the Episode IV crawl after passing the beginning of it, a new crawl begins after the camera tilts around opposite backside of A New Hope's crawl.

Your opinion buddy, but for me this is better. Zooming in on one section of the opening crawl of A New Hope is a genius way of telling the audience and fans what kind of movie Rogue One (2016) was going to be. A space espionage film like ANDOR was.

It's such a shame Disney told the Director to reshoot the film. Apparently, the first version of the film was "Too Violent and Scary" for Disney. Well, screw you! That's what we want! This trailer was set up the tone of the film. That's why you hear rebels screaming in agony and crying for help.
