Armour pieces used to go over and hide her SOB outfit in the Beta, but Games Workshop complained about this so it was changed, the community didn't have an issue with it, GW did, I was told their reasoning is as stupid as any other reasoning they provide "We don't want people who are new to the setting or don't know the setting to think she's a Guardsman, she's a Sister of Battle and we want her to look like a Sister of Battle" at the end of the day it boils down to them wanting to use the game to sell models and they want to sell Sisters of Battle models. Originally the starting outfit for all the characters was their base outfit and changing armour changed this. Body Gloves are visible under their base outfit still and Cassia's armour still shows different armour pieces over it like it did in the BETA because Games Workshop didn't care about that. GW was only anal about the Sister of Battle and the Space Wolf, they didn't much care about how the other characters were presented. Funny thing is, how Owlcat went about doing it, they just set it up so the SoB outfit doesn't disappear, you can still see parts of the armour under the SoB outfit. Also later in the game you get SoB specific armour pieces which do replace her base outfit, GW never had an issue with that obviously. Also *a lot* has changed since Beta, I've noticed the game is far more lore accurate now and has weird little things in it that the fans think are dumb, like not being able to romance the Sister of Battle despite the fact they never have Vows of Chasity, especially considering the fact she isn't from a militant order. So between BETA and release, Games Workshop stepped in and got the developers to make a lot of changes. One of the better changes GW pushed was how Boltguns function, they actually now feel like, sound like and chunk like a Boltgun, if you hit anything human sized or smaller with a bolt round who are not wearing heavy armour, they will explode into a shower of giblets.
@XShrike011 ай бұрын

Either they look really silly or they are bugged or just goofy and so much love to detail is missing, for a game with such a price tag its unacceptable to me. Even in the first cutscenes that you see within 10 minutes of playing, soldiers vanish mid-cutscene while shooting. This is to me obviously rushed and nobody playtested this cause this is obvious stuff. Other times after a cutscene you can stare at a blank wall and close it. Noone of that is game breaking since its just a (ingame) cutscene but its so obvious. On other times I see no love for detail and with this price tag? Portraits are missing of anyone not important, many animations aren't there...its hard to feel immersed in this honestly when you watch a dock worker striking and throwing some goo on one of your officiers - except for when he does a throwing animation while nothing happens except for an explosion on the officier - must've been a wizard. Also Mortisimal gaming did a intro lore video to help people into the game (as he was also new to WH40K, so had to learn it too). If you want a big lore dump on factions, you can watch Bricky's video on every faction in WH 40K. As for new to CRPGs, you can set the difficulty pretty low, and apparently can adjust it to harder later (I am told, once again, I have not tried adjusting it).

32:52 Splat says this game has real tough combat. So it might not be the best for entry level crpg players. Cause Splat has played alot of these types of games. So if it's tough even with his experience level then it's gotta be pretty hard. So a player that hasn't played games like this much is probably gonna have a hard time. But if you go for it anyways just don't get discouraged. Games like this can be really tough, but they're really rewarding too if you're able to get a handle on things. Might just have to look up tip videos and stuff to help out at first if you're struggling. I am a big WH40K nerd, but I have never played with this game system. I bought the game and it was a love at the first sight. Every.single.pixel of this game is pure Warhammer 40K! Owlcat studio went above and beyond with this one. Soundtrack - slaps as hard as the Emperor's power claw! I thought I was going to have a hard time with the new game system... but no. It is very clear. And, on normal, it is actually too easy. I've been slappin' boss level characters with ease with my group. Two officers (a psyker and a main character who is also a sniper), one other sniper/psyker, Argenta, Abelard (or the Inquisitor) for melee, and later Pasqal (tech-priest) for mix. I've been mowing through the enemies, even the biggest fights usually get done before the end of round 2. Officer characters are a huge deal. With all of their buffs and extra turns that they give, you basically double the firepower per turn of your group. There is one boss character on this planet Splattercat is on (the very last boss), in my playthrough he shot at me twice... that's all he could pull before I killed him. Overall, this for me is GOTY. Not only is it a great game in general, it is actually true to the world it is set in. This is a love letter to all WH40K fans out there. I could never get into Baldur's Gate 3 because it always felt like characters (especially companions) don't belong to the world they are in. They talk and behave like it is 2023. Breaks the immersion for me. Rogue Trader? Sucks you right in the world of 41st millennium and does not care about your real life morality and opinions. You are in the other world now, other rules. I am simply loving it! And as soon as I finish my goodie two-shoes Iconoclast down to earth playthrough, I am going to replay it going full dogmatic, head in the sky uptight noble... before I go full heretic! It is SO fun!

Just as a comparison, but I wouldn't care honestly since this is a Warhammer game and we love Warhammer but I cant overlook the things I mentioned because they are very obvious things that everybody that did just 1 playtest would have noticed. So with indie I just wanted to point out "not according to the budget/price tag" :)

@PuellaMagiHomuraAkemi just wait for patches and DLC then, be patient, nowadays games are so big they can't squash all bugs in testing, BG3 has had numerous patches so far and RT will too.

@@PuellaMagiHomuraAkemi Now, that's a great elaboration if I ever saw one, thanks! The visuals details do indeed look quite dated and the animations/in-game cutscenes are more akin to those of Warcraft 3 than anything modern. The latter of which (animations) is seldom addressed/fixed throughout a game's lifetime. That said, Owlcat did nail the overall look & feel of WH40K, and certainly did their research. (Tho, for the love of Emprah, WHY CAN'T WE BANG SPACE NUN?!? 40K SPACE NUNS BANG, OK?!) I don't know how big Owlcat's budget was, but seeing that the game's doing quite well, I can only hope it gets the Disco Elysium treatment where everything eventually gets voiced. Because, what little voice acting there is, is absolutely incredible, and I just wish there was more of it. It's certainly interesting how BG3 has set a new golden standard for CRPGs. I was gonna say "the industry", however, I do wanna point out that Larian Studios have this bad tendency to release their games with the first half being really well-polished while the second half is a bug-ridden mess.*cough*Act3*cough* This is often overlooked by most players and reviewers because of how lengthy their games are. Fortunately tho, Swen is a generous god and Larian have been absolutely incredible with their patches-and in general. (Funnily enough, my BG3 Act 1 experience was a trigger-bugged sh*tshow, whereas I'm ~halfway through Rogue Trader and it's been pmuch bug-free so far (tyranids aren't real, guys; they can't hurt you.))

Part of the Rogue Trader tabletop RPG was driving around your ship. The game had a system for buying a starship hull and fitting it with different modules. As all 40k starships, the smallest possible ship of the PCs was a kilometer-long space cathedral with 25.000 crew and it just went upwards from there. You didn't even get to start with one of the big navy ships, you started with something like a small cruiser. I wasn't a fan of the starship rules. You might as well break out the Battlefleet Gothic rules and bust orks with them. Another was enterprises. As imperial nobility, your power measures in worlds under your control and how well-managed they are. Your PCs cruised around and took over new world, each one adding to the general wealth of your dynasty. You decided if you would plonk down extra militia barracks or a church mission on your worlds as they grew from crappy frontier settlements to proper imperial worlds. It was a small minigame to keep the newfound colony from rioting and starving. You could land with military force and invade places, but there wasn't really any system for large-scale warfare. At least one PC will be imperial nobility, the rogue trader herself. The rest of the PCs in RT will be lieutenants, advisors, personal confessors, militia captains and shipmasters of that rogue trader's inner circle. It sounds like a lot, but you are small fish compared to the people you really compare yourself with. Other imperial nobility and the great institutions of the Imperium. You can't do everything yourself, and part of growing in power means tangling up with the feudal structure of the Imperium. You land responsibilities to others, and they support you.

From what I've seen of an earlier build, Argenta can talk a good game and she gets a pretty badass introduction but she will find new ways to disappoint you every battle. Yet you still keep her around because you are a Rouge trader at the end of the day, and you need someone to show off your line of cosmetics. For whatever reason, sales are never quite as good when it's just Abelard; he's clearly a workhorse and not a show horse, but he's always quite reliable when the inevitable tussle breaks out.

Owlcat did such a good job. I was kind of not looking forward to the ship combat, but I like it. The only thing that took me a little second was how the skill tree works, and still reading thru some of the skills. I will be completing this game, before I jump on anything else. A recommendation is to not use the medicate in battle but after the battle to heal the fresh wound before it turns into a permanent wound that actually applies a negative status effect. Fresh wounds appear as a lightning bolt ⚡ in the top right of the characters portrait.

I don't normally get games when they first come out. I wait until the bugs are mostly fixed and any shenanigans have been worked out or ignored and so forth. I've got nearly a thousand hours in the other two Pathfinder games and haven't beaten either. Mostly because I spend a lot of time across multiple characters figuring out the differences between various classes and alignments and such. I figured that Owlcat has done right on the other two and gave them a chance for a day 1 purchase here. They have not disappointed. I've already got two character going down the Iconoclast and Heretic lines. Not only am I loving it, if they make expansions like they did for the other games, I'm all over them.

No need to waste movement like in the first few minutes where you looked if that lightning has enough range or not.

Loving your work but I have a question - I made a Psyker - Pyromancer and when I got given a weapon set in the Prologue I was given a sniper rifle, so I am running 2 Pyskers but one of them is a sniper that occasionally sets people on fire :D
@SusCalvin11 ай бұрын
40k has no weapon, armour and kit limitations on psykers as far as I know. You can give a psyker any weapon they're strong enough to haul around. They are not guaranteed to be good, if they spend more time getting their Willpower up and developing new powers but you can definitely give them a flamepistol or melta or anything. They just get laspistols because laspistols is the cost-effective backup gun for everyone. You could give psykers heavy bionics and a human-sized power armour suit if you liked.
@demonfandango11 ай бұрын
@@SusCalvin Thanks for that but my point was answering Splatt who said that his issue with fights early on was that he had 2 Psykers and I was pointing out that early on he could've run one of them as a sniper...since he did specifically mention having a sniper might have been useful.......although that was not clear in my original post

This game is surprisingly great, deep into the 2nd chapter and its all coming together, I wish the skills were easier to understand but once you "get" it, you're crafting battles multiple steps in advance. And the lore is juicy, the amount of choice in just simple coversations is peak roleplay. I recommend playing with the Toybox to further fix the difficulty if you're someone who isn't hardcore. I heal fully after every battle and have infinite medine bag charges..and I'm considering fixed initiative rolls because normal normal difficulty would be hairpulling for my old ass!😂

I probably made 20 different characters in that game lol.

early game spoilers You have a. Warrant of Trade not a Letter of Marque. There are major differences the biggest one being a Letter of Marque is issued to a person and ends with them while a Warrant of Trade is hereditary. That how the protagonist get theirs. They are a distant member of the house (So distant they don't know they are part of the house the beginning of the game) and one of the potential heirs to the person who holds the Warrant when the game begins. (She dies early in the prologue and your character is the only potential heir to survive the events leading to her death besides a traitor)

I went Noble/Officer and it started fairly good and got pretty nuts fast. I can give Argenta free reign to just rip through entire groups of enemies solo, and the trait that shares every 3rd officer buff you use with yourself combined with the one that gives you +5 fellowship when you hit someone gives you a pretty fun feedback loop to turn yourself into a scary fighter the course of a longer fight, and so far it seems to mesh well with master tactician which already gives you a bit more damage.

In the somber vastness of the cosmos, a Rogue Trader is the quill that scribes new destinies upon the parchment of the stars. They are the torchbearers at the edge of night, the daring souls who venture where the map's edges fray and fall away into legend. Within their grasp, a Warrant of Trade - a holy scripture of purpose, etched in the blood of the God-Emperor and the ink of Imperial decree, a creed that blesses them with dominion over the uncharted reaches and whispers of power unknown. A Rogue Trader is the sovereign of the void, a regal monolith striding across the chessboard of the heavens. Theirs is a lineage or a destiny carved from the obsidian of deep space. In their hands, they wield not just the helm of their ship but the wheel of fate itself. Within the hollow halls of their starbound galleon, they command not just souls made of flesh and blood, but also the celestial spirits of adventure and the ravenous ghosts of ambition. On worlds where alien emperors reign unchallenged, a Rogue Trader is the shadow before the storm, the harbinger of a new dawn bedecked in war and wonder. With cannon and creed, they lay claim to these realms, scribing their names across the heavens in the indomitable language of conquest. They sail on the lonesome cosmic seas, where planets lie like unclaimed jewels, and nebulae drape over the black like the gossamer veils of celestial brides. A Rogue Trader gazes upon these wonders with the eyes of a ravening conqueror, a beneficent ruler, and a curious scholar, all at once. Each new world, a tome of unknown stories; each anomaly, a riddle wrapped in an enigma, swaddled in mystery. On occasion, like a thunderclap announcing the end of a storm, they come upon a world that sings with the echoes of ancient humanity-lost chords of a song once familiar. With the might of their Warrant, they weave these estranged brethren back into the Imperium's grand chorus. Elsewhere, they find planets that are silent, waiting for the sonorous boom of an Imperial banner unfurling or the guttural roar of a chainsword proclaiming conquest. In the boundless tableau of the universe, the Rogue Trader is the dauntless painter, the restless poet, whose every voyage scripts epic tales into the manuscript of the cosmos. They are the bridge between worlds known and unknown, the emissaries of the Imperium's insatiable hunger for dominion, and in their wake, they leave the enduring legacy of civilization twined with the dark beauty of the stars. So sails the Rogue Trader, a sovereign of the void, under the endless night of a million suns, each day a testament to human tenacity, each discovery a verse in the undying hymn to the God-Emperor. Their life is a battle, their path a crucible, as they cast the light of Holy Terra into the darkest corners of the galaxy.

All the enemies have either laser weapons (that basically ignore cover) or a melee attack that one-shots you and destroys any surrounding cover. It's fucking nuts. Only way to beat that encounter relatively easy is to deploy as far back as you can and let them come, lose time murdering the guards, etc.

@@peters6345 The BG3 has cliche characters (completely safe, not a single quirk about them) and written like they come straight from some western country in 2020's. That is what made them bad and broke the immersion completely and destroyed the story. At least for me. Compare it to Pathfinder games where every character is very quirky, unique and interesting (and talks and behaves like they belong to a fantasy world actually), or Rogue Trader where to be a cliche character you have the quirky (if you are not, then you stand out actually) and you can see how that drives the whole story and the world forward. Lizel - a warrior with a chip on her shoulder. How original. Karlach - hyperactive butch girl that refers to herself as "Momma K" is giving me nightmares Gale - the whitest mf in the gaming history Shadowheart - broody goth-chick Astarion - dear lord, do I even have to comment on him? Whyll - so bland that I didn't even notice him as a character ... And what is also important - think for a moment who those characters are. Karlach is a lieutenant of a demon host, a veteran of the war in hell - she should be boss level from the get go. But, she starts as weak as everyone else. The game, as it develops, does not fit her storyline at all. Same goes for Whyll - the famous blade of the frontiers, made a deal with the devil for power, he should be an unstoppable force and solo the game until mid-game at least. But, he too is just as weak as everyone else. Astarion, vampire centuries old, he should posses knowledge and skills like no other in your group. Does he? No. Gale, the renown mage who is a lover with an actual god of magic... starts the game not knowing how to throw a fireball, has to learn it. And so on and so on. In Pathfinder, you start as nobodies, and you learn along the way. Makes sense to have that progression. In Rogue Trader as well, your characters develop based on the story you go through and they made it so that they can start on a certain level of power without it looking too weird. They are all somewhat accomplished characters, and even though they are LVL1, they still mow through the numerous enemies that outnumber them several times over. They are LVL1 on our screen, but they are DEFINITELY not LVL1 in that universe.

How to describe 40k in short: a very dark space fantasy setting. There is no good faction - some better, some worse, but all at least somewhat horrible, with a lot of the better ones being in some of the most despairing conditions. There is an emotion and thought dimesion called Warp and it's got demons in it. Humans use it to space travel. There are also psychic who draw upon it's unstable powers. Humanity is overall in middle ages. Overall setting vibe is a satirization of fascism. Imperium might be humanity's sanctuary, but it is also digging humanity's grave with it's decaying dictatorship of a comatose emperor on life support and a self-devouring hydra of bureaucracy, nobility, theocracy, etc, which is beset by dangers from all sides, be it chaos gods and their demons and cultists, the ever-present orcs, the existential horror of ever-approaching horde of tyranids, the numerous and powerful hostile aliens (not like Imperium allied with the peaceful ones during it's "peak" days)
