Wow, Rogue's hole tolerance impressed me. I thought Ivanko was going to beat them in that asepect. Boyy was I wrong Lol do a collar review, I've only seen one legit video on youtube where they actually test the max weight collars can handle. And Ivanko beat all the competitors. They put like 2-a few 45lb plates and then stood them up vertically to see if the collars would slide or not. That was a few years ago, who knows, maybe someone made better ones by now. But I think Ivanko patented their design O.o
@BasementBrandon7 жыл бұрын
Might be interesting to test out! I believe Ivanko used to be made in the US but now they outsource to China (I heard Rogue does as well), but maybe when they made the switch they weren't able to oversee quality control as much.

Candi Soda, what you're saying about Ivanko collars is true of all competition compression collars (Eleiko, Ivanko, Rogue, Vulcan, etc). There are several different designs, depending on your budget and preference. Eleiko would be the cheapest choice and IMO the best. The Ivanko is a few bucks more and has that classic Ivanko nameplate which just looks badass IMO.
@MeepMeep887 жыл бұрын
As cool as those compression collars are though, they take kind of a long time to put on/off. I wonder what is a quick yet tight collar that is out there.

Just get Lock Jaw or knockoffs for $10, they're fine. If you want fancy/nice, get an OSO variant. The only thing you'd really want compression collars for is deadlifts and for that it's worth the time to put them on.

So did you sell the Ivankos for more than the cost of the Rogues and thus got some money for some other stuff.. or are the Rogue waits that much different of a feel than the Ivankos that warranted it? I assumed weight is weight.. as long as they slide on and off well enough, and dont wear out easily over time in a home gym, since you already have the Ivanko why switch out for a little more weight? New home gym dude here.. so I am slowly building up my setup. Totally went wrong on the power rack (got a non name brand set called Fitness Reality which is good, but height and attachment issues abound so now after having it for a week considering selling it for 1/2 price to buy a Rogue rack one day). I ordered a small 160lb rogue rubber bumper set to start off with as my mid-40s butt tries to get back in to lifting. I was thinking of adding more rubber plates, but not sure now if I should do rubber for use with squat/clean and bench, or look at the same rogue plates you got for bench and squat and use the rubber plates only for cleans and such. I guess to me weight is weight so really a bit confused as to which way to go with this. Your advice?
@BasementBrandon7 жыл бұрын
So competition plates like these are a lot different than your regular steel plates. They're calibrated to be within 10g of the stated weight. Regular steel plates can have as much as a 5lbs swing heavier or lighter. They're also much thinner then your regular plates as well. Because of this, they're also more expensive. I'd put these as a luxury item as for many building a home gym, they don't make sense unless you're trying to go high end, or want to emulate a powerlifting meet conditions.
@b3owu1f6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. Just realized I actually bought 25 and 35 calibrated steel plate. I like the thinness and colors. Figured Ill add a few here and there and build up my weight collection. I dont compete at this point.. but who knows.. maybe in my 50s Ill be ready!!

I'm interested in understanding why Ivanko weights are so much more expensive per pound. Are people paying for the name brand? Are they a status symbol? Do they have a better warranty? Are they more durable? Are they aesthetically more appealing? Are they made of a better quality steel? Are the accessories (bars, collars, belts, etc) made better? Is customers support better? What are all of the reasons for why people believe Ivanko's are worth more? And let's be objectively honest about the last question; Ivankos are worth more because the company is not lowering their price while maintaining enough sales to stay in business. Unless they're slowly losing market share, but is that the case? Please explain your answers. Be specific. Compare and contrast if appropriate. Interject any other relevant thoughts.

@@BasementBrandon its totally different ! I like all Weight disciplines for my opinion..ELEIKO and UESAKA are very greats Oly wl specialists...Eleiko make best barl(but Eleiko bumpers are too thick and less durable with heavy drop) .Uesaka make best Bumpers(uesaka bar is too rigid...no good whipiness) !!!!.. . In Powerlifting IVANKO is absolute king for hight pro level lifters but Rogue now is a very good brand (and price is very i terresting) ...and Rogue create new concepts ....like Elephant bar... personally i like both...Ivanko an Rogue...(in France we have just Pallini and Ekeiko.. Both are hight quality but price is in higher step of market)

Brandon Campbell Diamond What do you mean? Aren't the rogue even more expensive?
@BasementBrandon6 жыл бұрын
No the Eleikos end up being about $600-$1000 more expensive for the same amount of weight.

Eleikos are a lot cheaper than Ivanko though, and the paint durability is much better than rogue.

Can an Ohio power bar be used to bench, curl, and deadlift? What in your opinion is the best 1000lb capacity trap bar? I plan on a Rogue home gym in the near future. Keep on lifting👏🏽💪🏽🐻🇺🇸
@BasementBrandon7 жыл бұрын
OPB is the best barbell for the money IMO (I have a separate video on it). I don't own any trap bars so I wouldn't be a good person to advise you on this.

Funny how something as simple as weight plates can cost as much.
