Inscryption is one of the few games that I've managed to 100% because it's general gameplay loop is that enjoyable. It made me realize that I actually enjoy card games and my issues are more due to how the companies behind them monetize the hell out of them.
@phillystevesteak698210 ай бұрын
Dunno if you ever got around to it, but I hope you'll give Slay The Spire a shot - despite its poor art style. Slay The Spire dunks on Inscryption from a mechanic/gameplay standpoint. Absolutely dunks on it. Inscryption is amazing because of its artistic genius; it's is the epitome of creative brilliance. But gameplaywise, it ain't the best deckbuilding roguelike. @@ak9260

Touhou: Lost Branch of Legend and Wildfrost are two I've been playing a lot of lately. Lost Branch of Legend is very much a remix of Slay the Spire, with the same core concepts and some interesting new mechanics. Lots of smart design, and some really fun builds to play with. Wildfrost has you managing a party that you build as you go. The cards you play are important, but so are your party members' abilities and positioning. Again, lots of potential for shenanigans.

I'm currently enchanted by RogueBook, a game similar to Slay the Spire. However, it has much nicer graphics and you play as two character classes alternately. What I love most about it is exploring spaces on the board made up of hexes and improving cards with gems or with the alchemist. The game is a gem of its genre
@not_ever7 ай бұрын
I’m playing this on the ps5 but the clunky controls are really jarring and the Switch port has very bad lag problems. So if anyone wants to check it out, avoid the console ports
@wieslawgawron38387 ай бұрын
@@not_ever Im playing on Ps4pro and generally, the biggest problem with this game for me is the console controls, mainly using the analog stick, which are not as precise as in the case of a mouse. Well, unfortunately, the game sometimes lags when playing a large number of cards

Slay the Spire will always be the king. GOAT. No real competition. Game ist just too good. Balanced better than pvp cardgames, clean and streamlined and so much depth and replayability that you can play it forever and always come back to.

You know technically magic the gathering, early the oldest TCG, is technically by the pure definitions of these words fits into this category.
@bonogiamboni4830 Жыл бұрын
Eh not really, it's not like you're going on a campaign against multiple people and with each person you beat you add or remove or upgrade cards in your deck.
@vj7248 Жыл бұрын
With a TCG you make a deck prior to playing. With a deck builder, you build your deck as you progress through the game. The closest thing TCG has to this concept are 'solitaire' decks where you continuously draw more cards during 1 turn. Which people hate competitively since it's 'non interactive'. VS a Deck Builder where doing long combos to extend your turn is the whole fun of the game.
@skeleton_craftGaming Жыл бұрын
@@vj7248 kinda... TBH I forgor what part of the video I was responding to and that would change my response to you.. but my point is that the reason things like deck building games don't exist IRL is because of child gambling laws... in fact the afore mentioned Magic the gathering used to have a 'ante' rule where after you shuffled but before you drew you would turn over the top card of your deck and gamble it away... TBH I wouldn't be surprised if the genre of deck building games is at least loosely based off that...
@vj7248 Жыл бұрын
@@skeleton_craftGaming Well there are plenty of deck building games IRL, it's where the genre originates. Dominion being the original game of the genre. Which in fact was multiplayer. And if I remember correctly was inspired by Magic the Gathering in some way.

Inscryption sort of stands out when it wants you to complete the story, but Kaycee mod does ramp it up int an annoying rogue like where you need to get lucky.
