I rarely comment on KZbin but I have to give props to Caves of Qud and its awesome developers. I've been playing for more than a year and I've barely scratched the surface of this unique game. IMO its not a great game to watch someone else play but when it's your own character on the line the world and danger feels very immersive. In an era of mass marketability I am refreshed by this truly one of a kind gem.

@The Jester - Fool Of Hearts Qud actually came out quite awhile before C:DDA. (first public release was in 2010). It's definitely worth giving a shot if you like Qud!

It's awesome! As a programmer and someone who's also making his own indie game (not a roguelike) I really like roguelikes from a programming point of view. I'm also too intimidated at the fact of dying but I like watching people play and explain them. Caves of Qud is awesome.

Such a fantastic demo. Really encapsulates why Caves of Qud is the best roguelike right now despite still being in development.

A charismatic multilegged wizard. What other game let's you be that? This is awesome! The quests and stories around them, the enemies, the locations, really great stuff. It raises roguelikes to another level, in my opinion.

Could you explain exactly what this game is about? Like is it just a procedurally generated dungeon crawler or is there more to it than that. Kinda sounds like cdda meets old school fallout. Are there factions to interact with and things other than dungeon crawling for loot or is that it?

I've played ADOM so many times I want to try CoQ, but I need to gather more fortitude to endure it. Or I'll just savescum =\
@charlesajones773 жыл бұрын
Same. I used to play ADOM and Nethack extensively, but that was 20 years ago. I'm not sure I have the endurance to try and learn a new Roguelike from scratch. So I'm interested to see this video.
@PHYTEthePOWAH2 жыл бұрын
Same, started a few days ago. On my seventh char in Qud and it is indeed daunting. Still learning (the hard way) what to run from and what my running options are. ADOM has better controls and a much more developed Wiki.
@KorhalKk2 жыл бұрын
@@PHYTEthePOWAH I had a chance to play it and made a Cyborg human start on Joppa. I've used the save system already integrated and the game seemed less punishing. Already know almost everything you need to know for a normal playthrough but the game stops at the Spindle, is not complete yet. Bummer. Adom is much more developed because it has two decades more than CoQ, but CoQ seems more creative and dynamic, it has more cities and NPCS, whereas ADOM seems to be "emptier" and more "souls-like"(considering Dark Souls that must had ADOM influence lol), more gritty and less humorous.
