Epic remake, Dustin from starset first did this I believe in 2009 with his old band called downplay. Add Ben and they murdered it lol

Breaking Benjamin is my favorite band. I discovered them from Halo 2 from the mission gravemind. When you enter the room with the brutes and elites fighting and blow me away starts playing. This was around 2010 or 2011. I discovered Starset back in high school around 2015 or 2016.

The breakdown is also a mix, Ben is doing the "and the waters rising" lines and Dustin does the higher forward vocals "going deaf from the sound of rain" and "I won't drown in the flood you made"

Agree! And really hope so! Seems like this song was pretty underrated originaly when Downplay did it but now it’ll finally get the recognition it deserves. It’s a killer song, especially the chorus!

If you didnt know, Waiting for the Skys to Change was a Downplay Song, which was the main singer of Starset, Dustin Bates Old Band.

I know this is an old video, but I'm commenting anyway. The symbol on the bottom left shows who is singing. The star is Dustin and the cross one is Ben. When it glitches between them, it's both together. Sahaj from Ra also did backing vox. He has a similar tone to Dustin, so if you don't recognize his voice, you would probably just think it's Dustin. Jasen Rauch from Breaking Ben co-wrote this song with Dustin back in the day for his band Downplay, so that's why they ended up collabing with Breaking Ben on this remake. They toured together in spring of 2022 and recorded most of it then. I don't know if you know much about Starset, but in the studio, it's just Dustin and whatever session musicians he brings in. The touring band is not the studio band, although they are damn good at making the live sound match the studio sound, especially now that they've added Cory to play all the electronic/synth parts. This song is an exception; Siobhan and Zuzana composed and played the strings. But it's Jasen on guitar, Luke Holland on drums, etc. Luke also did the drums on the Divisions album, and Isaiah Perez from Phinehas did drums for Horizons. Joe Rickard did the drums for Transmissions and Vessels. Ricky Armellino from INK wrote (and played?) guitar for This Endless Endeavor on Horizons, so of course it's in double drop E and was played on an 8 string. 😂

Dustin for the first verse. Dustin lead on Chorus and Ben backing. Ben for second verse. Ben lead on 2nd chorus, Dustin backing. then mixed in the bridge. They trade off the third pre-chorus through the end.

@Andrew Woodward You could clearly tell everyone apart if the vocals aren't heavily edited (which they are in this case, unfortunately). That plus the song being a cover and the super mainstream melody make this song pretty underwhelming imo. Just because the bands are pretty similar in style and just because they have created bangers on their own in the past doesn't mean a collab is bound to be awesome.
