У меня таких стаканов с десяток есть из разных бутылок. Если кто помнит были очень красивые бутылки одно время. Сначала просто так у меня стояли для красоты. А потом я из них стаканов нарезал. Сам не знаю зачем. Просто бутылки просто так стояли,а стаканы почти всегда в деле.То соку нальёшь,то чаю.То просто воды. Да и красивые тоже.

Поделитесь, пожалуйста как вы их обрезали, так же? У меня коллекция красивых бутылок, вижу, какие элегантные бокальчики получатся... Пробовала ниткой, не получается, видимо слишком толстое стекло. И, как края отшлифовать, тоже вопрос. Пробовала разными наждачками, - некрасиво получается. Буду благодарна за совет.

​@@donnakawana Yup! My brother and I got one for Christmas in the 60s. Had a lot of fun with it. I don't think we still had it by the 70s. I still have my Flowbee though. I've used one for 30 years. The blades on my first one lasted 20 years and my second one is still going strong. I love that thing. As you know it's clean, fast and always ready when you need it👍🏼

You can also do it by wrapping a string around the bottle, soak the string in alcohol and light it on fire. Then after it burns for a little bit, put it in ice water

Да уж, в советских гаражах, как в бане, все равны, и академики и слесаря, наверное такое придумал какой нибудь член корреспондент. Когда в гаражах собиралась приличная компания, более трёх человек, и, о ужас и святотатство, это просто невозможно, но случалось, всё есть, а стакана нет. По углам в каждом гараже были пустые бутылки, и откуда они там брались, до сих пор не известно, брали бутылку, пустую прошу заметить, обматывали суровой нитью, смоченную отработкой, поджигали и через минуту бум и, о чудо, получался стакан и воронка для заливки топлива. Чтобы не порезать хлебало или руки, можно было потереть немножко о кирпичную стенку того же гаража. Да простят меня жены академиков.

Я в детстве так аквариумы делала из 20 - литровых бутылей из под кислоты. Шерстяная нить по кругу в несколько сложений, намачиваешь в одеколоне ( главное хорошо отжать, чтобы не потек по стеклу) поджигаешь и ждешь пару, тройку минут, и потом под ледяной душ. Ничего не прорезали, но там видимо стекло потоньше, легче лопалось.

​@@machintelligence расслабьтесь друзья мои, всё намного намного проще, а алмазы оставьте в подарок девушкам... такая царапина легко наносится: 1)наждачный круг или обломок Оного, от точильного электро станка, или из комплекта заряжаемых как сверла в дрель мини наждачные камушки конические , циллиндрические, сферические, объёмом около 5..10мл набором точильных насадок к электродрели продающиеся... недорогим... 2)черный классический магнит от динамика например - это ферритовый магнит, из оксида железа с добавками керамика спечённая, возможно стержень ферритовый из приёмника(магнитная антенна АМ длинных волн и средних волн диапазонов) который выглядит также почти как ферритовый магнит (тоесть любой черный керамический магнит издавна известный всем...) эта керамика царапает стекло 3)обломок изолятора фарфорового(белая керамика из Al2O3 ) свечи зажигания автомобильной - прочнее феррита, точить нереально (изолятор свечи зажигания автомобильной бензо-ДВС) его практически..., острый скол ударом молотка с защитными очками встречающими осколки... 4) резистор, МЛТ - 2 (2Вт металтзированный фарфор термостойкий трубочка в каждом резисторе кроме 0.125Вт и 0.25Вт в которых палочка а не втулка из керамики, также ломал пополам получая острое ребро... этими керамиками всеми ещё удобно искры высекать из ферроцерия мишметалла "кремЕнь" от зажигалки... 5)керамический не тупящийся ножь за 1$ в магазинах попадающийся, у меня картофелечистка с керамическим лезвием, с пальца при соскоке кожу срезает с лёгкостью уместной больше в процессе регенерации потом этого участка... стеклорезы с нитридом бора чтоли, на вид металлический ролик на ферритовый магнит похожий немного и на нож для пицы колёсико - конечно тоже пригоден, но менее удобен... обычно на 21мм диаметра или 8мм диаметра стеклянную пробирку химическую или трубку лабораторную боросилькатного стекла термостойкого(не трескается при скачке +500 или -250С... трещины при термоконтрастах таких не растут, и пересекают линии царапин или от стеклореза - не замечая и не прилипая к царапине, поэтому стучать по лабораторному стеклу по царппине -бесполезно-разобъётся будто и нет стеклорезной линии... бесполезно и термоконтрасты давать такому стеклу, потрескается всё если сильно дадите перепад температур, срабатывает нанесение рИски(царапины) на четверть или треть окружности, опоясывать не обязательно, могут концы не соединится что хуже чем треть оборота дуга царапина на боросиликатном стекле трубке, далее два варианта: 1)иметь кислородный или водородовоздушный резак горелку, бутановоздушный никак не даёт быстрого точечного ударного нагрева, надо иголочкой факела коснутся царапины, и трубка лопнет по царапине замкнувшись концами сама... ОСТОРОЖНО ! глазурированная керамическая лабораторная чашка для выпаривания(и ступка для измельчения порошков) мгновенно взрывается при контакте с ННО факелом по принципу шифера в костре, громко не шуточно и в глаза чтоб не влетело - защитные очки наденьте... остальные керамики так не делали на моей памяти...в галогеновой ламие накаливания 220вольтовой, ННО факел отверстие 1мм прожигает не трескающееся при остывании 2) опоясать трубку уложив часть витка по царапине, проволокой нихромовой 0.7мм толщины например, раскалять до красна и отключать раза 3..7 и трубка лопнет при очередном вкл или выкл... можно подержать включенным пол минуты - часто лопается так... ...был удивлён намотав такой нихром провод 0.7мм на медицинскую иглу, виток к витку, получив чуть толще спички спираль, которую уложил U-обрАзно на дно пробирки, уперев, и после пары включений пробирка треснула по этой вертикальной плоскости будто дно пробирки топором на два полубревна начали раскалывать... а интересно тут то, что витки спирали касались линии реза штрихами витков нихром спирали - - - - - - - - - - а не как проволокой подковообразно уложенной без намотки пружины нихромовой... | | | | | | | | __ концы нихрома обжал пассатижамискрутку нихрома и меди 1.5мм диаметра проволока - медный лакированный трансформаторныфй провод намоточный, далее пробирку на 2/3 засыпал порошком цинка металлического(как мука почти помол, серый - чёрный почти, цинк порошок не проводит ток... порошки металлов ток почти не проводят вообще... кроме золотого и платинового наверно, не окисляющихся металлов... цинк порошок распределял тепло нихром спирали по нижней половине пробирки ПХ21 21миллиметр внешний диаметр 50мл пробирка химическая, и пока цинк был там нихром пружина была по оси пробирки не раскалывала дно пробирки вертикально натянута почти до дна дна доходя 4см длиной со спичку шириной(диаметр витков) пружины..., и в толще цинка его грелнихром, оказалось что обжатый контакт скрутки меди и нихрома проволоки - под слоем порошка цинка закопанный вертикальной пружиной коаксиально пробирке и концами в медные выводы скрутки обжат пассатижами - цинк не допускает окисления меди,обычно к потере контакта с нихромом приводящего черного окисла меди горячей на воздухе... этой пробиркой проплавлял отверстия в штативе для пробирок более мелких пластиковом так чтоб ПХ21 как эта вставлялись, и кипятил как погружным кипятильником(нагреватешьный "палец" химикам известный немного из книг)

One time I had a tall glass jar that I used to make hot tea in every day. One day while it it was sitting on the counter with the hot drink in it I heard it make a distinct "tick" sound, but it looked OK so I picked it up. The entire bottom of the jar had cracked and separated cleanly all the way around, so when I picked it up all of the drink went instantly all over the counter and I was left holding an empty hollow glass cylinder. It was like a perfect practical joke that I played on myself.

Now all you need to do is find a base for the top to recycle the whole bottle. Turn the top upside down and glue the base on it, turn it over and you have a unique Martini glass. Could also be used for icecream, pudding, fruit, etc.

Excellent work. I tried the old light the string on fire trick the other day. Couldn't get a clean cut.

If you need a nice finish on that cut edge, use a hard rubber sanding block with some 400-grit wet-or-dry sandpaper (use it wet).

@blackwaterdogs4256 nah, I mean there were a few heat cracks that went past the cut line. Not sure if I got it too hot, cooled it down too fast, etc.

i used to work in a "glass house" manufacturing. We grinded diamond cut, and did operations like this"Cracking glass" with etching, heating and hitting the etching against a web sponge. Cool stuff, i like this glasses he makes out of bottles.
