I was sea kayaking in Prince William Sound of Alaska and fishing for salmon when 5 sea lions poked their heads up about 30 feet from me. I quickly realized how easily they could kill me if they wanted. I’ve had a hard time getting back in the ocean since. Really enjoy your channel in the meantime.

I think you're probably lucky that marlin broke loose before you got him to your boat. I cannot even imagine trying to bring a marlin up next to my kayak, that's just way too much power and too much risk to take offshore. But you're just a half bubble off plumb anyway, I reckon. Love your videos, loads of fun.

It amazes me how much you catch trolling dead bait. I primarily live bait opleu, but I recently caught a yellowfin tuna trolling dead bait. I am thinking that trolling dead bait is going to be the key to catching more wahoo next year. My dead baits are double the size of yours, it seems like you have better luck with the smaller ones? I really enjoy your content, I try to make videos in a similar style. Keep them coming
@rokkitkit6 жыл бұрын
Yep the dead baits are worth a go, I put a little time in with them when i was in Kauai. I got a nice Shibi on one but then I got paranoid that I was not going to get as many as the locals so switched to Opelu too :)
@FlyingFish_TV6 жыл бұрын
RoKKiT KiT I keep telling guys who don’t know how to catch opelu to troll dead baits around the bite times. I try not to be the guy giving out advice that I wouldn’t at least try. Although I will admit, that I was pleasantly surprised when a shibi came up. Next time I am going to spilt tail fillet the bait for more swimming action.
@dominic_a6 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingFish_TV I use rokkit kits rig for dead opelu. Works pretty well. Especially if you get a good speed going and then stop periodically and let your bait sink. Plenty uku, ono, and ulua that way. Live opelu is the best tho.

@@dominic_a I copied his rig, with the exception of the skirt. I have gotten all of my hits on the fall. I need to fish some different spots to get more ono strikes, not that catching shibi isn't fun.

Taste-wise, are Spanish and yellowtail top of the chart for eating? Spotty's and snapper next, then bonitos? Where does Cobia fit? Then there is still Mahi and kingfish.
