A guide to assembly of the gears for the Rokr Pendulum Clock. The clock can be found on Amazon among other places. Some of the music is from Jimmy Fontanez via KZbin.

I've had a right old time working out why the pendulum stops after about 30secs, but now think I've found the answer. If you look at the pendulum as it swings and also the little escapement 'legs' as they move there was a slight delay after the pendulum as they swung from left to right. If you glue where the legs and pendulum attach to eachother then there is no lag or delay. The clock works perfectly now. I think the delay was stopping the pendulum from doing it's swing- either slowing it down or interfering with the natural motion by introducing another.

Interesting. I had tried sanding and adding bits of glue to the ends of the legs to improve the mechanism, but hadn't looked at the assembly. Good job.

@@edclune5357 Thanks. Yes, Dad did some sanding and wax polishing at first (a lovely smell of lavender!) from watching your video, then we had to do the 'what's wrong with this picture' kind of diagnosing the problem. Very happy to sort it out, a big relief. Now dad wants the locomotive model.

Hi, just wanted to let you know, the clock is available on Amazon (at least in the US). Search for Pendulum Clock and it should be on the first page or so. The company is called Robotime and use the brand name Rokr. Using one of those names and pendulum clock in any search engine should bring up a few options.

We purchased this clock and assembled as per instructions. Unfortunately the thing does not work. We even used real grease on the fork, after about 30 seconds the pendulum stops swinging and freezes up.

Sorry to hear the clock build was not successful. I wish I knew more about clock building to suggest some things to try. There are some suggestions in the comments, but this is not a complete troubleshooting guide. Since my clock failed an impromptu drop test, I may do some work on it later this year, but I'm not sure if that will improve it.

@@edclune5357 thanks Ed. I thought this was an OEM video as I wasnt able to locate a website for ROKR. Im actually a hobby horologist and wasnt able to figure out why. The only thing I can think of is that the spray paint we used to paint the panels before we began assembling tightened the axle holes. But Its hard to believe that as we used a matt paint and the application was really light. My intent is to lube every one of the axle holes with clock oil. Of course we dont expect the thing to keep as good of time as the rolex but I certainly expected more than 2 mins of function. We built their train and it functions flawlessly. Did you lube the pendulum axle?

@@Derr1976 I just used wax in the teeth. My clocks problems (before the fall) seemed to be between the first gear and the pendulum, either because the gear was too warped or I did not align the frame correctly during assembly. I did get it to run for over an hour occasionally, but it would always lock up after some random time.

@@Derr1976 I found the website for ROKR, but no direct help appears. I tried e-mailing their support team this morning, I'll see if they respond.

Also if I make a mistake with the gears is there a way to aquire new parts?

Hi, thanks for the comment. This was my first tutorial video, so I hope I improved on later projects. With gears in particular I'm trying to keep the repetition to a minimum (most of the gears followed the same pattern) but highlight places where I had some difficulty. My assumption is viewers are either trying to get a flavor of the build or have the instructions in front of them.
