ROKR Owl Clock Wooden Model.
This is a complete build filmed over multiple episodes to show the entire process, nothing is sped up, but some duplicate steps were skipped over. These are some of my first videos created so some issues or technical difficulties are present which I hope to iron out in later videos, but hope to add new episodes weekly.
ROKR is one of a small handful of companies to make wooden models. They are sold on their website and through various distributers including Amazon.

I enjoy building a range of models to include Lego, Metal Model, Wooden Models and other various models. I will hopefully be uploading more builds later on to show other projects. I hope you enjoy the videos and if the pace is slow for your viewing pleasure, please fast forward to get to a step or part you are looking to see. All of my videos will show the entire build process so everyone can see how everything is built or put together. Please LIKE and SHARE or leave comments, thank you for checking out my channel.

I've just started on this model, A gift from my wife for my 55th birthday, I've completed most of it, I'm looking at it now, just got the clock and Face to finish, the alarm don't work great, maybe my gears too tight, I did wax properly, it sort of works, but doesn't matter anyway, ain't going to use it, even when I Finnish the clock, ain't gona really use that, It's a model, it'll just be on a shelf as a talking piece, you know, I really enjoyed making this, it's only the 2nd ROKR model I've ever made, the first was a small train, way too small for a guy in his 50s, Shakey hands, bad eyesight, got it done but broke some parts, ha.hey first one, I say if you think you might like doing something like this, go for it, bit expensive yes, but, take ya time, an if you like it, save for a new bigger model, ha.👍

Allan Currie, thanks for the comment and support. you are correct in doing what you like and with some of these models you really dont know how they will work until they are finished. Hope you get to enjoy other wooden models, check out UGEARS and WOOD TRICK brands as well. They all have their own spin and different models to choose from, thanks again.

Wow! Thank you so much for posting this. I started on my own and had a feeling I was on the wrong track. Boy, did your video set me straight! I've just completed the third gear and would never have known from the instructions how the orange "shaft sleeves" were supposed to go. But, I'm getting the hang of the instructions now. Maybe I can solo on my next ROKR.

Mary McClure, Good morning and thanks for the feedback. I know the instructions can sometimes be confusing and it's taken me getting through a few models to get better at reading them, but the more you work with the ROKR models you will get comfortable with building them. This is the reason I made these videos was to help others because I couldn't find any videos to help my builds and I try to explain as much as I can. Good luck on the rest of your build and any questions please let me know. Happy Holidays.

I am wondering if painting the pieces is workable. Where they fit together might need to protected or sand the paint off, but it would look so good if you paint the pieces. Has anyone seen a video like that?
@coopscreations2033
@coopscreations2033 6 ай бұрын
@RankinImagery, Thanks for the question. If you review my 2 newest videos, ROKR Cello and ROKR Submachine Gun I actually did stain the pieces and everything went together well. The only parts I did not stain were the gear wheels themselves as I did not want to interfere with the connection between the other pieces. Painting or staining works for any of these wooden models, just have to get the right paint and decide how yu want the piece to look. Thanks for looking.

I need your final video 🤦🏻‍♂️ the pendulum won’t swing whilst the timer is on. I’ve narrowed it down and can see it’s that the coil behind the timer isn’t unwinding
@coopscreations2033
@coopscreations2033 2 жыл бұрын
Chris, the final video is up. The coils may not unwind completely, just enough to wind them back when the timer gets back to zero. My problem was the pendulum also and I talk about it in the video. Hopefully my final video helps, but if not let me know and I will try to help, thanks.

Quick question: I could not find the wax (part P10) in the box. Is this normal? What type of wax should I use? I'm going to use a small birthday cake candle, probably petroleum derived. Anyone else have this problem? Many thanks Coop for the great video.
@coopscreations2033
@coopscreations2033 2 жыл бұрын
Reuben Woodley Thanks for the question. Your kit should have came with a small disk or piece of wax that I show in the video, I haven't ever had one not be in there. I would use a brand called Bees wax, you can find it at your local hardware store. If you watch at the beginning I have an example of it. Also, someone had mentioned using Vaseline, which I have not used yet, but that might work as well or as you mentioned a small tee light candle, but that takes a little more work to scrap off the wax. The Bees wax has never let me down, you just have to ensure to coat the gears or pieces very thoroughly to ensure less friction. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions please let me know, good luck

I just finished the device. I'm pretty chuffed with the end result. It took me around 7 hours to complete - though I spent quite a bit of time checking, and re-checking the enclosed instructions, and your excellent videos. In the end I did not find wax in the kit, but the candle wax seems to have worked. I did some research and have found some comments on another forum ( as part of AliExpress) that wax is not included for safety reasons during transport. Again I thank you for your help.

@@reubenwoodley96 I'm glad you found something that worked. I know depending on some models that comes with wax or glue, it does depend where it comes from if those items are included or not. So far I haven't had anything missing, but it's something to keep in mind if you order another model. I hope you have better luck getting the wax next time. Glad to help.

What kind of wax did you use?

Paula Barrow, I used Bees Wax that can be found at ACE or Lowes, but I also use a Dry Lube silicone spray when I have everything finished to touch it up that ca be found at Walmart, Hope that helps, thanks for the question, please let me know if you have any other questions.

MusabCyR Cayir, thanks for the comment. I haven't used Vaseline before, but others have posted that it is a good substitute for wax. I would just be careful on the amount that is used on each piece, thanks again.

@coopscreations2033

Is the pendulum not constantly swinging to keep track of the timer or the battery operated part for the clock? Don't know if you have watched all of my episodes for this build, but I have one more to upload to have all the episodes available. I also had issues which I talk about in the final episode and kind of got the pendulum to work. These sometimes take a little time with getting the wooden parts to move constantly to lesson the friction to help get them going.

@rcv19421, Thanks for the comment, I'm sorry its not working for you, but after 2 years mine still isnt working as well. I believe there were some that just didnt work no matter what you did to them. Just keep working on it most of the wooden models with gears wont work as well until you get the gears moving a lot more with a little more wax on them. Hope it goes well for you, thanks again.
