It's heartbreaking to watch this in 2018 and see how excited and hopeful he was..he was on top of the world, was in Roller Boogie, had more movies lined up, gave up his skating career for it..travelling the world...and then----Nothing. Zilch. Dropped off the planet. So sad! I loved him in Roller Boogie and here he seems genuine, confident, handsome, and talented. Jim Bray Jim Bray, wherefore art thou, now?? 12/7/18.

He's only 58. Old interviews state his name as James "Jimmy" Mickeal Bray. Yes, he clarified the spelling. In 1980 he said it was just him and his mom living in Ontario, CA. Seems to be keeping a very low profile and when someone does that it means they don't want to be found or remembered.

I agree,he took a big gamble walking away from his skating career to be in the movies and it looks like it backfired.He probably stays out of the public eye because hes bitter,cant blame him though.

@Yeseye Haveone Did you even watch this video? He's talking about 3 more movies he was supposed to be in, he was all excited and hyped up about that--but he was never in Parasite and Crosstown Kid never got made (can't find it in google anyway) and his version of Romeo and Juliet prob also never happened (or he wasn't in it). He quit a lucrative (?) career as a skater to be in Roller Boogie and expected to be in more movies but then--crickets, nothing, zilch. It is sad, because I wonder why. Did something happen to him? So many what ifs. I still love Roller Boogie (just watched it again yesterday) and I'm 57 years old, about Jim's age now, and I wonder what he thinks about his 'glory days' of being in Roller Boogie and almost being a star....I do hope it was his own decision not to continue in the movies, but from this little interview it sure doesn't look like he was not interested in a movie career.

I remember going to see Roller Boogie when I was 13 - I thought Jim Bray and Linda Blair were great. I wonder whatever happened to Jim Bray - never saw him again. Hope life was kind to him.

I was a 10 year old girl living in Australia when Jim Bray did a demonstration skate at Mooroolbark Skating Rink and me being part of the club I was picked to present flowers to him and his partner after they skated. I still have his autograph in my book, he wrote “For One Kiss” Jim Bray
@rolaboi2 жыл бұрын
I went to that also and watched and skated the session. It was awesome. And even funnier, they had a stand in a Linda Blair, and people bough it! lol

@@rolaboi hey Jayson, we skated at the same rinks, I remember you. I was skating under Jan when you were skating with Burton. I think your just a little older than me. Those were the good old days. Did you skate at Mooroolbark under Dale, he was my coach when I skated there.

Jim was a very young but seasoned talent by the time he signed on for Roller Boogie. Sometimes when people "peak early" and are totally confident within their abilities, they aren't all that impressed with the glitz of Hollywood and Fame. Jim comes across as someone who enjoys his life but who doesn't necessarily "have to" be in the limelight. Other bios also mention that he is a well rounded athlete in addition to roller skating, as having been talented in many high school sports as well. FYI, some have said he appeared on "Love Connection" I don't think so. There "was" a Jim Bray on there, but he was a very oddball person, who looked nothing like our Jim Bray here, and acted nothing like the nice guy, Jim Bray, from here.

Since he was down in the southern hemisphere, it's surprising he didn't rotate the opposite way because of the Coriolis effect, LOL. But all kidding a side, this was great exposure for roller skating. He didn't exactly have an ideal venue to do that double loop combination, but he still pulled it off. Double loops are way harder on roller skates than on ice.

He signed on for more movies and I'm sure he got some sort of advance. Unfortunately dance movies were out of style until 84 with Footloose and Flashdance. By that time Hollywood forgot about Jim Bray.

You can see this kid truly loved roller skating and he gave up a great career doing that because some Hollywood agent filled his head with promises to make him a star if he left the skating world and when he did, he got back doored. He didn't make another film after Roller Boogie and literally disappeared into Oblivion. I read somewhere that he decided that the acting profession and the Hollywood lifestyle wasn't for him and left it behind.
