Amazing! Adolph Wacker, who won the event with Linda Mottice, was my coach in the 1970's. And I skated my Gold Medal DanceTest with Linda in 1962. I failed and then passed it with Linda Mace, another fine skater, in 1964. What memories!!! Thank you!!!!

Thou not as "interpretive" as World Class dance is today, the skating here is so much more smooth, and the precision of their footwork is almost hypnotic to watch. I last did these dances 30 years ago, but watching this video, the steps are still almost "right in" my memory. THANKS for posting this amazing time capsule.

when I watch this it reminds me of my grandparents, they met skating and did figure skating. My grandmother taught me to skate when I was 4.. oh the memories.

Linda (mottice) clemens was my instructor for junior dance 82. We practised for 7.5 hours every sat and sunday morning. Linda was definitely the best roller teacher i ever had. Linda's international dance was even more impressive then this American style. Also..a genius at creating freedance routines. She paved the way for me to teach ICE DANCING in LA all theses years later. Michael

Why does this not show all the events that were shown on tv ?? There were three events televised on this show.

If you know this dance, look how Linda and Adolph crossed on 2 during the flat sequence instead of 3, making them off timing until the flat turn. The 3rd place team skated that sequence correctly. 2nd place McNeive turned his 3 turn after the cross on 2 and his partner hopped all her 3-turns.. We only see 1 of 4 dances skated in the finals. And final placements were based on the total of all 4. Though boring, the 3rd place team skated The Westminster the most accurately.

Looking at this again, the teams, apart from Linda and Adolph, are stiff. Dance today, meaning World Class, is much more interpretive: a tango looks like a tango and a waltz like a waltz, etc. Cecilia Daremont of the 2nd place team hopped her 3-turn terribly! And the 3rd place skated as if sedated by valium (very unattractive). Wish there was more film of the Texas team.
