This was great. I am not into guitars and instead synths, but I really liked how you kept the visual of the unit on the bottom, at all times. Was really helpful in following along in being able to see what you were doing, instead of just hearing it.

The "infinite reverb" and delay and tones you can get out of this is just amazing. They'll never make anything like this, 80s Roland, top Japanese quality, home brew chips, genius engineers.

Cool unit. Just the other day was trying to figure out what else was in the rack promos aside the gp-1000, sp-1000 and spx90. It's very nice to have those real knobs to tweak the "continuous" parameters. Never liked dialing digital numbers for those because it's hard to grasp unless you have some basically math reasoned guidelines for them. They're not very convenient for "just turn it until it sounds good" methods. Given that you have such a huge rack, mono delay shouldn't be that big of a problem, you can just run two different units for different channels for more flavors ;) But it does get expensive if you want two SDE-3000s or even worse PCM42s... That said, this unit seems very intuitive to use and easy to read. And it's nice to have something rather bare bones with just the desirable extras. Chorus, reverb, delay and modulation on the reverb. And all the analog front ends I assume. And not at all too expensive. Did I already mention it has the lovely VHS/home stereo display that looks so nice in the rack? Now I'm interested in Boss SE-70. It doesn't look like much and barely has knobs or buttons, but sounds fine. Especially for stuff like detune and that stuff which benefits of right amount of brightness. Putting that small box in the rack conveniently though, another story.

Great demo sir, as always! I was just looking at some outboard gear to buy. Then I saw this and remembered that I have one of these somewhere...doh! I love the way it sounds. Great point about needing 2 SDE-3000 vs only one DEP-5. Go easy on the power button, mine broke somehow. I think perhaps it was sabotaged at a battle of the bands...Gotta go dig it up out of storage....Thank you!

...as you mentioned at the end, the DEP-5 also works well with percussion/drums loops. Very versatile unit -- as long as you keep your signal strong (bit of a noise floor with the vintage gear). I own 5 of them. Use some for mixing and run one in my guitar rig. I run it through a boost right into the front of a Vox AC-30. Sounds fantastic in mono too. The parametric EQ is awesome for tuning the verbs. I typically use Programs 1, 4, 6 and 15 with my own EQ settings. Here's a classic 80's track with David Schelzel playing a Tele through the DEP-5 on patch 6 I believe. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXSsdqltaLV5ars
