Roland HD-1 Sound Demo - Johnny Rabb

@@Manuel-gr2sv here's my tip for you guys, hold off from buying this kit. If you're planning to buy this, just hold on to your money and save more. get decent kits like, td-4 td-9 used or if your budget allows it, go for roland td-07k which is the latest and also cheap for its line.

I've had this drum set for 2 years now and its brilliant for beginners like I was when I bought it, it's a 1 piece set so its effectively out of the box play. If your looking for a nice basic set this is the one to go for, it's fairly quiet due to the cushioned kick pedals. The pads do clack a bit but that's something you effectively expect from an electric set. 1 problem is maybe the lack of expansion, but for beginners that's not to much of a problem :)

@HazeHeat100 so connect the drums to your computer using the Roland UM-One cable and play what ever drum sounds you like. you do not have to use the sounds in that HD-1 module

I got this kit a few days ago and all I can say is that its fucking brilliant! I absolutely wonderful to play on. I`ve found myself actually going on them more to improvise and practice rather than just playing songs. I love making beats on the dance kits and the droid kit. I fucking love this kit.

Personally I prefer them to most acoustic kits I've played. I never regret buying this kit, it has a good cross range of sounds. Which would I rather, an acoustic kit which can do some traditional sounds, or the range of totally different kits here. It is the most basic in the Roland series, but it is by no means a toy.

Alguém poderia me ajudar ? Estou com o seguinte problema : ao bater no hihat com o pedal do mesmo estando pressionado, o som ainda sai meio aberto, ao invés de totalmente fechado. Ratifico que tá tudo funcionando bem, pois separadamente, todo contato funciona ( batida no hihat aberto sai com o som normal, som do fechamento do hihat ao pressionar o pedal também ).

Exactly! =D Like if you had 8 samples at the same velocity, when you play/trigger them it would be like: sample 1, 3, 4, 2, 5, 7, 1, 8, etc. Somebody on KZbin told me there is a feature on VST drum program that is similar. It's called a "round robin". It doesn't "randomize", but it plays consecutive samples each time they're triggered, like: sample 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. etc. He said each drum kit was like 1 gigabyte in size. I forget the name of the program/software.

That would be great. You could sample, say, a snare drum eight to sixteen times (for a given velocity/dynamic level) to capture a bunch of slight variations in sound, then collate all those sounds into a randomized sample set for that dynamic level. Repeat for other voices and you could have an electronic set that sounds incredibly close to a real set.

If you're playing live then I'd go with acoustic any day, simply because of the stage presence and the simple fact that there's just something about them that E-kits can't quite capture. E-Kits are mostly great for just mucking around, being able to practice without neighbours hearing you and having a variety of kits at your fingertip.

Somebody should invent a "randomizer" program/feature. Modern keyboard/sound modules have layered, (2-8 or more) velocity sensitive samples per sound. When any acoustic instrument is played, even if repeatedly at the same velocity, the sound subtly changes each time. I dream of a system where the sounds are sampled at different velocities, but also with multiple samples at each individual velocity. Then a "randomizer" feature would ensure that those samples are never triggered twice in a row.

I'm a guitarist, but I'm thinking about getting myself a budget digital drum set like this. Not too crazy about the built-in sounds, though. But I have EZ drummer (which I believe has better sounds) software on my computer, can you hook up this Roland set to that, turn of the built-in sounds and use the sounds from EZ drummer instead? And will there be any sound delay if you do this?

did you try to play it? i bought it 2 weeks ago and i think is very good for practice the drum set sounds 1, 2 and 3 are very quality drums sets, but it would have more drumsets...

@jesneca I wouldn't recommend this kit for a live plus this kit is like for beginners if you want an electric kit for live performance check roland's stage kits, yamaha dtxtreme, or even alesis dm10 pro with surge cymbals. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS LIT FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE

I don't have regular access to an acoustic kit and don't wanna suck on one because I've only been practicing on electric kits.

I have had the HD-1 set for over 2 years now. I must say, it is a good drumset. But I look at videos of the TD-12 and such and then I get envious. I feel like I made a good decision yet, I also feel like I made a terrible decision choosing this set. Dont get me wrong, this set has its benefits but the symbols are not chokeable, and you really cant control the sound as much. The bass pedal is alright for me, but I wish it had more rebound. My legs kill after from doing Slayer on this drumset :(

@kevdigs930 It's impossible to add your own sounds to it or anything short of TD9 or 10 (can't remember). You can CUSTOMISE your own drumkit using any of the preset samples, but no new sounds without purchasing a new brain.
