I have the JT-4000 and am loving it, incredibly good especially for the cost, opening the doors to hardware synthesis for the masses.

Thanks for sharing this. Your video does showcase well how good the synth engine is on the JT 4000. And your JP 8000 is very impressive! I just looked up the price of a used JP 8000 and am happy that the JT 4000 sounds so close to it.
@kneonic6 ай бұрын
Hey thank you. That's all Im trying to show. Is the JT4000 just like a JP8000? No. But can you make the supersaw sounds from the JP? Yes! $50 well spent!!

This is a great sounding little synth. The new updates have made it much more useable and the new M version with midi in will be a game changer for this!
@kneonic6 ай бұрын
Yes, this synth is so great for the price! Do you have one? Also is there any other improvements besides a dedicated midi port for the M version? Wonder why they didnt just include it? But I'm fine using the USB for midi because I control it with Ableton...

As the original owner of a JP8K you could have fooled me with this thing. Sounds pretty great!

Yes, at least with a few sounds, you can be fooled.

Finally! You are the first person to make a video comparing the two (on KZbin, at least). Believe it or not, I'm actually more interested in how just the plain sawtooth and square wave oscillators on each synth sound in comparison to each other. Don't know if there's any chance you'd be willing to do a video of that as well? One of my favorite recorded bass tones was made by combining the JP-8000 with a bass guitar, so I'd love to see if I'd be able to get that same sound from a more compact and more affordable (and more stable!) synth.
@kneonic7 ай бұрын
Hey thanks, yea that was my idea just to show a quick comparison with just the supersaw. That's a great idea. I just might make some more comparison videos! Stay tuned.

I have got a JP8000 and have to admit that the £40 little box does a good job although I imagine some menu diving is required but at that price who cares? What Berringer is doing is not really right (I say that owning a TD3 and a TD3MO) but he brings tech to the masses which can only be good in an increasingly virtual world with no warmth. And yeah - the digital VA JP with analogue filters is way warmer than virtual.
@kneonic2 ай бұрын
Hey, yea I kind of agree with that take on Behringer, but then again with someone on a budget and being able to get your hands on a clone of an old synth for a fraction of the cost is very tempting! How do you like the TD3MO, devilfish mod right?
@Marvin-z8j8 ай бұрын
Behringer clones seems to sound a little brighter and the originals to include the 303, 606, 808, and 909.
@kneonic8 ай бұрын
Yea, I def notice the JT sounds smoother and less "clicky" then the JP

How does the filter envelope compare to the original? I was surprised at how slow the filter envelope on the JT is, impossible to make a plucky sound. Is the original like that as well?
@kneonic6 ай бұрын
Filter is much better on the JP. Plucks are easier to get! Im noticing its a lil frustrating configuring the filter envelopes on JT and getting the desired sound w/o messing around for awhile. But the JT is still new to me.

@@kneonic According your description: "I've added the following effects from Ableton: EQ Delay Reverb and a free vst TAL-Chorus-LX" The filter sounds way different, the envelope is horribly buggy on the jt-4000, you cannot make an usable, consistent fast attack lead/bass anything else. Thats why it is unusable for almost any purposes. Bad for bass, bad for leads, low poly for pads, recording and post processing for hours is pointless, it doesnt sound better than any freely accessble vst synth. I almost bought one last year for fun but it was out of stock and I bored on the long waiting... :)
