It’s videos like this that make me wonder why we are all still testing new gear and keyboards for sounds. Peak sound has already been achieved years ago.

It’s pretty much a synthesizer arms race at this point, and while things have improved a lot in the realm of performance? I’ll always prefer the rougher, honestly prettier sounds of this era.

It's amazing how they all freaked out back then to listen to such a piano in a Synth. With dynamic filtering, so much better than the U-20. And nowadays you think - what's that? Maybe you can use it for house. So short and thin. But back then... Still love the guitar sounds even today. And the way you've used them hear does them justice for sure!

IMHO Roland dropped the ball on the JV-880 by not using the Roland U-110/U-220/U-20's piano samples,
@LittleRichard19887 ай бұрын
@@kiskadar69 But you can get the U series pianos on the JV-880 either with the Piano Selection PCM card or with the Super SRJV expansion board. I did that with my JV-1080 before finally getting a U-220 a couple of years ago. I also prefer the saxophones on the U series which was one of the reasons I got a U-220 in the end.

most romplers are full blown synths , with the exclsuion of pulse width . But you cn kinda fake that with a saw+inverted saw and a bit of detuning . Also sync is osc.sync isn't really possible ,except on the roland jd 990 , considered to be best sounding rompler ..with amazing analogue stule sounding iflters

Dammit, this is what happened last time. I saw a Roland U-110 locally on Facebook Marketplace, then I came to your channel, saw a demo of it and remembered how amazing it was, and felt like $50 for the unit and the 4 cards that came with it was a pretty good deal, and then I bought it. Well, it turns out... it WAS a great deal. Today the deal is not AS good. $215, but still tempting. I'm not gonna buy this one, but these sounds are lovely. Thanks for the demo.

@LeadingMotive4 жыл бұрын
You mean to play them? Go into performance (i.e. multi-timbral) mode and play part 8, which is dedicated to drums. You might have to change MIDI channels for that.
@zeke91710 жыл бұрын
If your master controller MIDI TX is set to channel 1, and you want to use the performance mode to record to an eight track sequencer i.e. Alesis MMT8, do you have to sent the MIDI TX unique for each of those patches in the Performance group and make sure they match up to the same for the applicable track on the sequencer? I am assuming you don't have to change the MIDI TX channel on the controller, you can leave it set to 1 (for example)?

hey, I'm not really sure what the difference is between this and the 1080 besides release date. The reasons people give for them being different are usually very subjective. What are the actual differences?
@BenA7187 жыл бұрын
Hi there. The 1080 is a totally different beast, I have both. The 1080 holds a lot more patches, and you can add 4 expansion cards which are accessible at any time including as part of a Performance patch from the front panel of the unit. The 880 can only hold 1-2 expansion cards (I forget) and the patches are only available one at a time through the Utility menu and you have to load them one at a time; you also lose the patch when you reboot the unit. The 880 is great for taking to gigs if you only want the most basic PCM sounds; if you are doing serious layering or composing you will probably want a 1080/2080/5080. Also, the 880 only supports up to 8 'tracks' in Performance mode; the 1080 supports 16. :) Hope this helps!
