Fuck, the 90s is the most under-rated decade of music - me and a fellow 40 something raver try to tell the 20 somethings at work how mad it was as all these musical explosions took place while everyone went nuts during the acid and pill revolution. Loving your stuff!

Man I am so happy to hear this sound has come back. I know it's of the 90s but I always associate it with the Early 2000s since like literally every bit of media used Jungle and DnB.

I haven’t used OctaMED since the early 90’s, but as soon as I saw your workflow, it all came back! Key commands and other things I thought I’ve forgot. I still have everything including hundreds of diskettes with samples. So.. you got me inspired to start again. 👍

I loved AKAI S2000 in my high school days! I wouldn’t say I liked jungle but the work environment is what I wanted and admired.
@12BITJuNGLEOuTTHeRe Жыл бұрын
I really like the s2000! I know most don’t and can’t get on with the small screen but it’s the first one I got when no one else wanted it. It’s done a lot of work for me so it’s like an old friend. 😊
@sirghty Жыл бұрын
@@12BITJuNGLEOuTTHeRe Same here. I got a used one in mid 90s. even at that time, s2000 was not such popular. I loved s2000's sine wave with rich harmonics. I know it might sound weird, but even though I'm a researcher in acoustics now, I still think the sine wave is the best base at least for jungle and drum'n'bass.
@12BITJuNGLEOuTTHeRe Жыл бұрын
@@sirghty absolutely! I couldn’t afford one when it came out but I had a Dj buddy who had one, he complained about the screen. It was none the less Akai’s stripped down machine. I do have MESA, Wave Lab and Recycle all hooked up via scsi but tbh I don’t often use them. I was fortunate enough to pick mine up around the time soft samplers took over and no one wanted them. The G3 Mac I was using that I saved from the skip wasn’t powerful enough for a soft sampler so I got the s2000. I actually got it for nothing as the seller packed it poorly and broke it. Win 🥇

Nice! Love your sampler collection. My first sampler in the 90s was a esi32 like yours. I had the centronics cable and the zip drive for 128mb storage lol. I thought I was big pimpin back then! Big up!

i sooooo much miss working with a computer that actualy does what the user wants it to do.. like working on protraker fast tracker octamed stuff like that. smoldered 2 mb chipram into my amiga 2000 back then to get more samples loaded (and the settler map size 8) haha .. what a wonderful time and all that hardware i recall doing live act with only the mc303 nothing else. other djs were kinda jelous because they had to carry like 500 kg of vinyl boxes meanwhile me just casualy slapping on that roland toybox and out of nothing there was the sound .. bringt back so many good memorys and i like havintg a video with THAT like uploaded these days. thanks for that spark of old memorys surfacing back into existence.

Looks a lot like my setup about 33 years a go, Amiga 500, the C64 with the Final Cartridge III and a Tracker program, but for midi for My AKAI S900 and Yamaha SY99 I used the Atari and I was very proud about my DAT recorder. My favourite sampler was the Yamaha A3000 with HD recording.

I just happened upon your channel and the way you still work is crazy! It's like stepping back 25 years in time. I don't have the patience to work work with my sampler anymore because of just how long it takes to load things in, multi-sample, etc. Seeing that Mackie desk is triggering my PTSD. The VLZ-styled series was so popular with electronic musicians in the 1990s - especially for overdriving the inputs.

Awesome... Never managed to catch jungle I got to the platform too late, I listened to a bit of Quicksilver in my youth and then got reintroduced to EDM via Axwells 'Now that I found you' forgot it and Deep House popped up on my KZbin feed a couple of years ago and have been hooked on Nora En Pure and Gioli and Assia ever since, closest I got to jungle was watching Ali G the movie... However I just really enjoyed watching this and listening I might have to start watching out for the trees even though I'm not called George. Thanks, best wishes, Stefan, Jersey, Channel Islands.

I believe 96 was the year MC-303 was released and 98 was the year MC-505 came out…. The MC-307 was dropped in the same year as the MC-505 if my memory serves me correctly… I bought the MC-303 and MC-505 the year they were released and although I tried the other groovebox’s during their release I found that the 303/505 combo was more than capable for my needs…. I also remember the representative showing me the SP-808 before it was put out on the floor as they figured it was something I might appreciate not realizing at the time I already had an MPC 60ii…. Good stuff and hearing those sounds takes me way back🤘🏻
