Recently I helped Alex Ball with his "Don't You Want Me" cover, in which I provided him my midi sequence of the song ( • Human League DON'T YOU... ) and helped program the Roland MC-8 parts. Since I had the MC-8 all set up, I decided to do yet another rendition of Odd Rhythms, this time with my Korg ARP 2600m providing the sounds. I'm lazy so I re-used the video I put together for my first rendition of this MC-8 demo sequence way back in 2010.
This is one of the demo scores in the Roland MC-8 manual. It's a piece called "Odd Rhythms," written by the inventor of the MC-8, Ralph Dyck. I decided to spend a couple of hours punching this thing in to see what it sounds like. All sounds are playing back on a Korg ARP 2600m (overdubbed via the MC-8's tape sync one part at a time). I didn't spend much time on the sounds or on the mix, so it is what it is. But as you can see, you can get as musically complex as you want with the MC-8.
Here's the MC-8 data for this if anyone else who owns an MC-8 wants to load it in:
