Roland MV-8000 VGA DIY Diagram (DONT BUY ONE, MAKE ONE)

This is a Tutorial on how to make the VGA and Mouse option work on the Roland MV-8000 in about 2 1/2 hours.

Most multimeters all have a simple "Continuity test" . It's the speaker/beep icon. Touch the leads and you should get a beep. This waaaaaay faster than looking for 0s and you get instant audio confirmation. In fact you can clip to one of the and 'touch around" to find connecting wire in a flash - and never look at the multi-meter screen. :-) Informative video! 👏

I'm new to the MV-8800 world (got a great deal on one from a pawn shop). I've got a lot to learn about this machine, but I'm glad you're out here holding the torch. Def got my mouse and monitor from Goodwill, too.

Thank you. Bought my Mv8k 13 years ago (2006) and still don't have the vga option. Ive owned many mpcs but keep coming back to the Mv.

One love to the Beat Lord 1 Tekneek. REAL QUICK note: if you do end up either buying a VGA expansion or making one courtesy of TeK and genius Star 1, PLEASE remember to get the right adapter if you plan on using HDMI inputs on your TV/Monitor. I didn't and it almost caused me to return my unit and/or the VGA card. Its important to get a VGA to HDMI adapter cord. It looks a little different than the one Tek had on the article, as that is a HDMI to VGA adapter: BIG DIFFERENCE. Dont make the mistake I almost made.

The hard drives that comes with the MV are old and slow, I Recently installed a CF card Drive, I got a CF card adapter to a micro SD card, so basically my hard drive is a 128 gig micro sd card, It Increases speed and modernizes the MV for todays standards to take MV stems to Protools all from ejecting the SD card. By doing that it also Reduce his weight and heat from the hard drive. To install the CF card Drive just pull out the floppy drive and use that space for the CF Drive. I will also do a video on that this weekend.
