I've had one of these for years that was given to me but I've never used. What would you suggest for a drum module to use with this device? Im assuming that it don't have factory sounds built in? thanks

Hey Scott, I played with an Alesis DM5 the other day and I really liked it sounds, ease of use and price. You can pick up one from $100-$150. Here is a link to some on Ebay. Its an affiliate link so I may earn a commision if you buy any from there. It won't cost you any extra. electricdenimstudios.com/recommends/alesis-dm5

How easy would it be to connect this octapad to ableton and trigger samples and sounds? Especially for live playback?

It is pretty simple, you just need a midi input on your sound card or audio interface that is hooked up to your computer. Then you use the MIDI out from the octapad to go into your computer. They have real cheap MIDI to USB interfaces too you could use. You may have to reduce your buffer in ableton for faster response times. On the octapad you can adjust the the midi note of each pad to trigger ableton. In ableton you go to your midi preferences and make sure the midi ports "track" is on the midi interface that you are using. Let me know if you need help.

Roland Pad 8 can connect to the module roland TD TD 8 or 6 is not? I PAHI how to connect them together?

If you want to use the Octapad Pad-8 as a controller, connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI out of the Octapad Pad-8 to the MIDI input of the TD-8. The Octapad should now trigger the sounds in TD-8. Although, you might have to configure the Octapad or reset it so that it plays the right notes on the TD-8.
