Your P-6 videos are exactly what i was looking for. I sing, and also play guitar and bass; Good content on the P-6 from the point of view of an intrumentalist is a rare find. I really appreciate you posting your videos. Now I have to try one of these out. Cheers!

Thank you for watching. I’m happy the videos connect with you. As someone who seems to make music in a similar way, I’d say you’ll enjoy the P-6. Give it a few days to learn and you’ll be up and running.

Pure joy to watch and listen! Have had my P-6 five days now and it sure packs a bunch! Max amount of notes playing simultaneously is the only bummer, but then again, less is usually more!

You described me. I'm a guitar player for 35 years. I love making beats but, like you said, there not a lot of beat producer videos where they play a real instrument. Subscribed.

You actually give one of the most direct tutorials on using the Roland P-6! Thanks a lot and I just subscribed to your channel because of it! The world needs more videos on how and why to combine gear versus using them in isolation! A looper is not necessary with the P-6 on hand! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🎯🎯🏆🏆🏆
@dreadwardbernaysАй бұрын
Thank you so much. I try to think of interesting combinations, and make videos showing methods I’d be curious to see myself.
@Kevinschart26 күн бұрын
You can do this with just about any budget groove box or sampler. The issue is that you can't record separate parts while monitoring your beat. You have to increase your budget to $1k or use two samplers at once

I just got my P6 about two weeks ago and have been looking for some good tutorials to get me through the learning curve. Your video was one of the best for this simple direct to the point and very helpful. As a result, I hit like and subscribed and I am looking forward to more videos on the P6. Take care, brother.

Thank you for the view/like/sub/comment. But, more importantly, welcome to the P-6 Cult 😂 A little bit of hate for this thing online. But, I think, once you play with it, you can’t help falling in love. So much fun.
@aapillusionsАй бұрын
@@dreadwardbernays It would probably generate half as much hate if it came with better documentation. I've been away from this stuff on the hardware end since the 90's when I had a Roland D-20 Synth and S-550 Sampler. Both were killer pieces of hardware back in the day (esp the S-550) but the documentation was awful. I know I'll love this thing once I've mastered it but it took me forever to create my first bass and drum pattern not because it's rocket science but because it's not overly intuitive. You helped me break through some ice though so thanks again.

i bought the Roland AIRA S-1 tweak synth to have something to either program to sync along with the P-6, or to sample the S-1 to extend the abilities of the P-6. Mostly to round out my 'portable music toys' sceario

Having the P-6 has made me curious about the other AIRAs too. Having a few of them chained could be fun.

hey, just got my p6 and your channel has come up. similar to you i do the mpc, bass, guitars n shit. hiphop jazz etc, man this P6 has stolen the show for me, so im go from mpckey61 to the P6 for bass input. tbh i never been so inpsired before on any of my machines.. this thing might be the glue i need. i must have made 8 beats yesterday without even learning it. its crazy but im going to use the s2400 to get even more lofi going. i didnt think about using my instruments into it so thanks for showing how it easy is. new sub. Stone Roses. im uk and im from Blackpool where they started the musical revolution, august in 89, i was there bro, right there for that. Epic times and exactly why why i started making music way back. then gave up then started again 2020 lol. roses fan, awesome. haha

So glad I’m not the only one inspired by this thing. Also dope to hear from another MPC-instrumentalist. 8 beats in a day is crazy. I’ve been too busy, and struggling to crank out a couple each week, over the past month. Stone Roses are one of my favorite bands, ever. Sick that you’re from Blackpool.

Brilliant music and video but one question is what you connect the output of the P6 to? It's outputting Bass, Drum and guitar samples, so quite a frequency range. Then you're playing a guitar through a JC40 so whatever you're playing samples through has range and can compete?
@dreadwardbernaysАй бұрын
Thank you! The P-6 is connected to my Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. It’s a big Bluetooth speaker, with a good frequency response, that you can get for cheap. I love that thing, when I’m not in the garage, where my monitors live.

THis video was nice. It's cool to show people your creative process! Dear Roland firmware gods, It would be a cool, simple firmware update, to add a tap temp detector/set to the system menu... IIf only we could: press SHIFT-MENU, dial to a menu item called t.tnp, press enter to start tap tempo detection, then just start tapping any pad, and the machine will calculate the tempo and display it while tapping. Used to find the tempo of samples you're getting ready to record, or a musical idea in your head... Press exit button to exit, leaving the P-6 tempo UNCHANGED, or, press ENTER to SET the tempo of the current pattern to the detected tempo. Thanks in advance.

Who is this for ? Why are you messing with it when you have a MPC and can use this. I know that i will never have the patience to learn MPC or Digitakt but i think this Roland P-6 might be too limited and toy like. As far as i understand you cant save the contents of the whole thing.
@dreadwardbernays2 ай бұрын
You can save your projects. This is a toy, compared to an MPC. But, it’s a useful toy. Very easy to setup, doesn’t need to be plugged in. After a couple of hours, you’re able to turn it on, and record your ideas. Nothing will replace an MPC/Maschine/DAW…etc.

you can definitely back up the entire thing, it just unfortunately takes five steps
