I don’t see how this could be used in a production situation when there is no plug in? I love it’s potential and i’m really already loving the sound quality of the Roland clasaic synths.. Unfortunately Galaxias at this point makes no sense.

I dont care its not a VST i'd rather use the instruments in Bitwig independently any way. I just use Galaxia as a jamming machine its the ability to use them in your DAW having all that iconic sounds should be handled with care lol but I do like the ability to drag patterns from the drum machines and I'm also liking the browser and being able to review the pattern them straight away without having to wait for it to load is pretty cool...

This is true! I personally wanna try it in my DAW they have great vsts. I struggle sometimes with Zenology with its initial load time but other than that their plugins are pretty solid.

Well, after spending some time with it, it reminds me of the old days of stacking midi linked synths. Kinda fun to explore. As for the DAW, I did set a track as external midi instrument and got it to record into Logic Pro. The only thing it doesn't seem to do is export or bounce that track. Playback only. And if you change the scene, the track sound changes. So... I will enjoy jamming and making scenes and hope Roland makes good on their promise.

I definitely see their intentions with Galaxias. I like the layering features. I am hoping they do add a little bit more to it. We'll, see which direction they go with it in the future!

I wonder if there are CPU usage difference if you call up the same sound in Zenology, Galaxias, SRX vst's, and the separate vst synth? They have the same presets all over the place. So which is easiest on CPU? Ugh.

This is the real question. On my main tower, I'm fortunate not to worry too much because I built it for power. However, zenology still takes a while just to boot up. I've never created a full session with a bunch of Zenology tracks to see how much cpu it'll eat up. I usually flatten everything before putting it on my laptop for mobile studio use. (The laptop is good but can't handle too many vsts running at the same time) I do like Roland's sounds, but they definitely need to work on optimization for their Vsts. Their synths seem to be fine. Just zenology hogs a lot for me on Cpu usage .

since inside Galaxias you will load the same VSTs, i think there's no real CPU usage difference.

Thanks for the commen! It definitely has a lot of things they built into it for sure. It does seem a little overkill, but I think layering could be an easy avenue to build sounds. The real question I have when it goes to a plugin version will it eat up all the cpu in the session. Especially it you have it on multiple tracks? It definitely reminds me of IK Multimedia!

Didn’t even think about cpu. I have one of those M1 laptops and it’s crazy efficient it is with tons of soft synths versus my intel MacBook. But cpu would be a concern. You be flattening/ bouncing all day. I even bailed on kontakt for that reason, and just stick with Arturia synths now. A lot more straightforward with a less convoluted interface on its synths.

@hasan7786 Yeah, it could be trouble, lol! I built a pretty beastly machine for my main setup. However, I have to take it easy on my laptop because certain plugins slow it way down and eat up way too much space. Roland's synths doesn't seem to be too bad, but zenology takes 1 minute just to boot up sometimes its SLOW, lol!

I completely get how you build a "super instrument" by combining these layers, but, once you've done that, how do you take what you've created and get it into Ableton? It's not a VST... it's not an "external instrument" (or is it?) Maybe the answer is obvious, but if anyone can give me a brief answer, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

You're exactly right. It looks like they're making this into a VST. However, at the moment, they're allowing people to "Beta" test it before they convert it into an actual plugin. The problem for me is that I would love to try it out as a plugin than wait for it to be fully released as a plugin. I don't get much spare time to make music, so experimenting on Galaxias has been limited for me.

Does any one else have glitchy sounds from the System-8 plug in in Galaxias?

@GammaLensMedia I get the same glitchiness when using the system-8 in my daw. Only the system-8 no other synth does it.

I thought you used a Novation controller. Did you switch to Arturia KeyLab?

I have both. On the right hand side of my setup I use the Novation, Push 2, and Maschine Studio. Mainly my production side. On the left hand side I have my Arturia 88 and the Fantom 06 above that. The left side I usually sit and just play. Both are great controllers but for me serve different purposes.

@@GammaLensMedia, Very cool! I have NI's Komplete Mk2, and I'm debating either upgrading to a Mk3 or getting the Arturia KeyLab (either mk2 or new mk3, if/when it comes out). I'm a huge user of NI's Komplete products, so I love how that works, but the KeyLab seems like the better all-around controller. Tough call. Maybe I'll go your route: Get two controllers!

@mariomedina7077 Yeah the MK2 is pretty good! I've heard mixed reviews on the MK3. Usually Native instruments have really good products though. I have the newest collection and love their sounds. I went with novation though because I do love the scales mode and additional features it has. I went with the Arturia MK2 because I love the weighted action on it. Having 2 is really good as long as you know the best way you want to use it!

Agreed. Roland says that they're letting people use this until its DAW compatible, but we shall see!

It is great to try the instruments before purchasing but I had read it was a Visti so I could add to my DAW. I hope they get it compatible soon as that was a selling point for me.
