These are right up my alley. I'm getting this synth tomorrow and want to buy these but i'm a bit concerned over instructions (probably make more sens when i have it) but does this work on a mac (do i need some software also? my OS i pretty outdated). Thanks for any help, these would be so much fun to use

It's quite easy. Instead of doing a sysex dump, Roland's Boutique devices are being recognised as external drive on your computer. You only have to move the backup file in the restore folder of your unit and do a restore. It's described in detail in the installation manual.

@@limbicbits ah okay, its not showing up on my mac though its being powered by it. I just got it so i'm going to try get these on ther tomorrow as ive the day off and cant wait to play with this. It does work on macs though, and without replacing the stock presets? Thanks so much for the reply

@@jdoodah You will replace the stock presets but you can (and always should). do a backup anytime and restore it, later.

@@limbicbits ah so back them up, replace with these and then swap back and forth if want? My only issue is my sh01 isnt showing up on my mac, do you do this by connecting through usb? Perhaps i need drivers for it to be recognised

Hi, Thank you for sharing these patches with us. I purchased the download via the link. However, I'm slightly confused over the instructions and wondered if you might be able to clear up my confusion please. Your instructions state: To mount the SH-01A to your desktop follow this procedure 1. Holding down [MENU] button, power up the SH-01A 2. Connect your computer to the SH-01A USB port via USB cable 3. Open the SH-01A drive which has mounted to your desktop. For step 1 I have to have the SH-01A plugged in to power up. There is only one USB port on the SH-01A in which to do this, so I am confused as to how to connect to my computer when powered up to complete step 1. Should I power the SH-01A by connecting the SH-01A to my computer via USB before step 1? Also, is there some Roland or SH-01A specific software or application where I can back up patches (like Arturia have the Midi Control Centre) or do I literally create a folder on my desktop for existing patches to be saved/backed up? Hope you can help. Thanks again

Hi Martin, excellent! I guess, creating a folder "patch" inside the Restore folder did the trick? I don't know why Roland had to make the patch im- and export so tricky ...

Trouble Shooting: 1. Sometimes, you have to create a new folder called „PATCH“. For whatever reason it doesn’t show up where it should be. After creating it, place the patches inside and drag the whole folder into the RESTORE folder on the SH01a. 2. Occasionally, the new patches don't install if there are already any files in the BACKUP directory. So it might help to delete these from the sh-01a disk after backing them up. If the new patches don't appear on your SH-01a after you've done this, try deleting these before trying again. 3. If this still doesn’t work try to eliminate any USB Hubs in between or disconnect other USB devices that are connected.@@KingValas

Hello, I bought these and and have dragged the backup patches to my desktop and tried replacing a PATCH folder with the new ones, and again the same in the restore folder (with and without the PATCH in backup, just the new patch folder and even just the presets, and finally the folder as is extracted), then i eject, press menu and it blinks for a while, then stops. I power down, boot up, yet the same patches remain, no new ones? I've tried everything I can think of. Can you please offer a suggestion?

Hi Jason, can you please write me directly at [e-mail]? I'm pretty sure we'll figure it out but I am more active via e-mail then I'm on YT. In the meantime, please make sure to use the latest SH-01a OS and please try to make a direct connection without any USB Hubs in between. Sometimes these cause some issues.

How do you rate the pedal, does it do nice reverb and delay combos?

For combos, I'd rather chose Source Audio Collider but for Reverb, Ventris is great. My personal reverb favorite so far is Empress Reverb.

If the SH-01a is recognized as an external drive on your computer (please take a look at the manual for the steps necessary) this should be possible.

I purchased these and none of them sound remotely like the examples here. Even when using a reverb pedal in the chain. Even tried following the knob positions , Very frustrating.

Are you sure that the dump has been successful or maybe you've just reloaded the factory backup? Because the presets should sound exactly as shown in the video. Trouble Shooting: 1.
