CONDUCTOR is the electronic musical project of Guelph Ontario’s Matthew Davey. The live set incorporates various drum machines, samplers, and synths as well as effect-drenched vocals in a one-man, loop-based performance. The first EP “/mixed_media/” will be released May 4th, 2018.

Thanks for making videos on the original model. Every video is usually for the SX, and I'm not exactly sure 100% everything transfers over... I just got an OG 404 at a great price so I'm doing my homework now, ha!

sp404 is definitely more of a boom-bap type machine. me personally, I would recommend the sp404sx for creating lofi. cool video.

Odd combo: Sp202 and Sp404, use those gritty drums for boom bap, and you can also have some Jhfly type drums

Would you recommend a SP404SX or OG 404 for a Korg KP3/TR8? Quantizing is the only issue, I like to be quick chopping. Other than that the compression for sure and FX.

I have the OG and I love it. I have friends who say that it processes better but honestly I don't know for sure. I don't have problems with the quantizing. Do you mean if you're MIDI chaining it with other instruments, or just on its own? If you have more than 2-3 instruments in your midi chain you should probably get a MIDI thru device like a QuadraThru, to plug all your MIDI instruments into that instead of chaining them.

Conductor thanks. I’m using the KP3 more for effects and maybe using the SP attached somehow through that to my mixer. I have a DJ mixer and I’m stuck between analog or digital atm

Why have loop and hold ? Is that not doing the same thing ? Btw , dont like vinyl effect.

Selecting the Hold button will allow the sample to play out till the end without you having to hold the sample button with your finger the whole time - but that sample will not loop (start over again) unless you also have the Loop button selected. If the loop button is selected then the sample will loop over and over again, so when the sample ends it starts right back at the beginning again.
