Roland Sp606 & Cakewalk P606 Software

This is ONLY an EXAMPLE of working with the P606 software since I never use it.. Someone asked me about it, so here is an IDEA of how you can use it..

Bruhhhh. I used this for yrs and man l had so much success with this. It's crazy. I used this daily.. I'd tweak the sounds.

It's a 4 track..but I put the kick n snare together along with the hi hats on one track. Since u can do step recording on the sp606, I can get precise an delete certain notes.. Then track 2 over lay and so on..yes track limitation is a problem unless u have the software.

@Beatbode1980 Nope it is lacking the tuning of samples... however there is a work around if you have a midi keyboard connect it and then you can tune up the drums/samples

@Ryan4321 THANKS!! I love this so much, I find myself going to this more than my MVs and BPM software, its small and portable.. it saved my ass several times, when I forgot my audio interface I had to use this.. this is excellent.. Thanks bro!

You can export thru USB. As for seperated tracks you can just mute each tracks. Or you can import .WAV tracks indivdually what's best is to sync thru your DAW and just mute the tracks..

Check out the Roland MC808 or 909 those are great, you can find them on ebay. I would look for a synth if anything, since the Sp is already a groovebox

Yeah, it's me.. I did post on the cakewalk forum, however I actually did a video for cakewalk studio instruments for Cakewalk themselves (check out youtube and myspace under cakewalk) I was a guest producer for them.. I will work on a video for the P606 software for you.. thanks for the comments..

Try contacting Roland.. They should have it, if not go for Cakewalk Kinetic 2 that is just like the P606 but it has more features..

I like the MM6, only thing is.. it's so damn expensive for what you get ($599) however I know someone at guitar Center so I got mine for $240 which I can't complain..It has some nice sounds, and alot of flexibility.. you can import patterns thru USB and alot more...

@TheReggiereg1 I don't have the software anymore, I use Kinetic 2 (its the bigger brother to P606) and well worth it...Look on ebay you can get it for like (10.00)

How do you manage the track limitations ? if any... i read people complain about the tracks and notes compared to the MPC1000... how many notes or tracks do we need to make a song ?

I'm sorry it only comes with the unit.. However if you look into Kinetic 2 by cakewalk (you can buy it for around $30 on ebay) that is the parent/big brother of P606.. You can contact Roland and see if they will send one..

Your right now since I switch to vista x64 I no longer use the P606 software nor can I even use my Sp606 with vista x64.. if you have kinetic or can get kinetic software from cakewalk ($20 on ebay) that works like a charm and you get more out of it than P606 anyways

I just used the auto chop function..then I chop it in more detailed if the auto chop doesn't perform a clean chop.

USB is better, because you don't have to worry about any noise or problems with the cables. So use USB. I use both, that is for different reasons though. It would be less because you can store your samples on your PC and whenever you need them just drag and drop your samples into your Roland Sp by using USB.. Do ya need anymore help?

Yeah.. 512 is the most, but I no longer have the Roland SP now.. I have the ROland MV8000

Yes.. Kinetic should rewire right into MC..

You can change the enitire pattern by usin g the tap tempo.. But a sample by itself you can't to my knowledge.. you can only change the tempo of an entire pattern.. Now if you only have a sample on the entire pattern then YES you can change it, once again using the tap tempo

Sorry you cant download this software as it comes bundled.. However you can get the kinectic 2 for less than $10 bucks on Ebay as this is the big brother of P606

VERY MUCH SO.. you can control everyting to a tee.. just download the Kinetic manual and it has a section for Sp606 users.. Trust me you won't be sorry..

Opinions vary... I sure hope you realize that is software is not Sonar? So that statement is of course not logical in this matter.. But I respect it.. I have Cubase 4 and to me it's lacking so much that Sonar makes up for and vice versa.. But hey thanks for the comment homie..
