First of all great video !!!! i LOVED it ! But i'd like to add 2 things 1. in the USB 1-2-3-4 and Out options, the buttons that are flashing are the ones selected, not the ones with a stable light. 2. The rim and the clap are impossible to pan (maybe on my machine ???? ) This is a video with 1.04 firmware and my comments are with using 1.06 so maybe these are some firmware changes. Thank you so much for your videos keep them up !

Hello Nu-trix. I have this problem. I'm hoping you can can a video out of it. I own a tr08 tr09 tb03. I can get either 08 or 09 to sync with the 03 via midi or trigger out to in. However. I cant seem to get all 3 to sync with one another 100% lol properly. Seems like when I do sync the 08 or 09 together one of them is always out of sync. Thank you for your time in advance.

Great video 👍🏼 I've been looking for info on USB1,2,3 and individual outs. Can you access the individual outs via the MX1 mixer or is is just through a DAW?

I don't have access to a TR-09 right now but I think I remember that it's possible to assign a sound to analog output L, one to analog output R and a stereo USB to the MX-1. You would get 4 inputs (2 analogs and 2 USB) in the MX-1. I will try to test it this week. Thanks for watching!

When the TR-8 is connected to the MX-1 using USB, you get the Master Mix out. If you want more, sounds can be assigned to output A andB . Then you just need to connect the analog A and B outputs to analog tracks in the mixer. The max on the MX-1 will be 2 monos tracks and 1 stereo USB track. Now if you connect the MX-1 to your computer via USB, the computer will show the MX-1's 18 USB tracks (not the TR-8's 14 USB ouputs)

When I connect a synth via "Mix In" to my TR09, I hear a white noise and the synths sound only on the right side of my headphones. Is this normal or is my Mix In jack broken?

Nu-trix awesome videos they always help me out. Do you know if its possible to transpose the kick drum on these drum machines so I can record songs in a different key? Im guessing via ableton is possible but what about a beatstep pro or other sequencer?

To change the pitch of the sound it has to happen inside the sound Generator of the device. You can try to change the pitch with the pitch bend, but often the percussion sounds are not responding to pitch end by default. You have to check what MIDI message can be received by the sound generator. Then, most sequencer should be able to send a MIDI message to the generator.

Check in the MIDI Implementation sheet of the TR-08. If the device can receive a MIDI message for the task you are looking for it will be listed there.

I have an old TR-808 and want its sequence play in sync to my TR09. The 808 of course only has switchable Sync In or Out......the tr09 also has Sync, Din Sync I guess...it is possible tave both machines playing in sync? TR-808 (the old orginal) and TR-09 ( the small new one)...:-)..any ideas?

Hi, DIN Sync is a protocol invented before MIDI. So even if it is the same DIN connector it is not compatible. The TR-09 does not have DIN sync. It has analogue trigger sync to become master for a TB-03 or another synth with a sequencer and an analogue trigger sync in. You will need a sync converter. Many exist. Roland is selling the sbx-1 for this job. www.roland.com/global/products/sbx-1/

Looking at its price (Roland SBX 1) I was thinking of getting the BeststepPro by Arturia which is supposed to have this feature and (also as the SBX1) should be able to add Swing to the TR-808. DoctorBlankenstein, no, the sounds are the result of the actual panel values.

The panning will be applied separately for each panned sounds. There is no memory for the sounds parameters. Meaning the active value are the only values. But almost all the instruments parameters can be controlled via MIDI. What is the best way to have the tr-09 play along with my software instruments within ableton. There’s a huge delay and when I use track delay it is never consistent. One moment it will be in sync with my session and the next it won’t

Hi Chris, are you syncing the Tr-09 while it is also connected via USB to Ableton Live and used a an audio and MIDI interface or you are syncing it while the sound is analogue and the MIDI is using a MIDI connector?

I'm not really using much midi at all. I'm just using the 4 usb outputs and using the sequencer on the TR-09 in sync mode so it reads the bpm of my session. Trying to transfer the beat I made on my Tr-09 into my session in time with the rest of the track.

If I remember well, you would need to select usb output in the TR-09 and bring the analog output to zero. Then in Ableton live activate « monitor in » on the tracks you want to hear.

@@Nu-trix Hey Thx- One Other Question: Is it not possible to hear the master out of Abellton Live? As well how can record what is coming out of the TR-09? My apologies for all the questions but I stumbled across your channel and I pulled out my TR-90 because I did not know I could run it directly into Abelton…. I also have the Boutique TB-03…. Aciiiid!!!!

@odumwalimu just have audio track in record ready with the tr-09 as a audio in and you should be able to record it.

what to do if TR-909 is really expensive these days but TR-09 is REALLY small for my hands??

Maybe the TR-8? The sounds of Tr-808, tr-909, TR-606, TR-707, TR-727 and is made for hands on manipulation.

No , you would need to find a used one with the optional update.

Great video. Is there a way to change pitch of kick? Changing tune is not the way I need. It sounds not like changing note.. i have to sample sound to do it. If you see drumazon it do exactly what mean, so, instead to use drumazon is there a way?

Tune is the only "pitch" control that I know of in the TR-09.

I had the same question. The “tune” does not change the fundamental frequency of the kick, only the pitch envelope (it seems to me)

I don’t have access to the TR-09 but I think you are right. There is no real pitch control for the kick. It is a shame. Onless it’s available via MIDI?

Hey, great vid, One issue i have that i cannot figure out is; when i add a software instrument in logic the midi from tr-09 plays on that instrument as well and its driving me crazy!! The other instruments are on other midi channels and its still happening. Any help you or anyone else on this thread could give me would be very much appreciated.

You should have some way to stop receiving the MIDI input. In software DAW usually the MIDI channel in is filtered out so the controller doesn't need to be switched between channels when playing another track. Is done in the DAW. Find where you can stop MIDI from being send to the tracks you don't it to go.
