ugh. This is so cool. I'm familiar with the Roland way of programming only via Propellerhead (Rebirth and Reason), and only about programming static rhythms, and never a live jam thing like this. I've unfortunately have never been hands-on with their hardware. I ordered a used TR-09 earlier today because I want to try making my own synthpop (check Pansentient Synthpop). I understand the basic programming, but /this video/ has me pumped to learn what it is really capable of doing. I need it now. =D

It wasn't that great, dude. Very generic, meat and potatoes. Not at all imaginative. TBH This is an outright copy of Jeff Mills style of jamming on the 909, but without Mills' special touch. Unfortunately, so many biters have come along and hijacked the Detroit style, it's lost most of it's enchantment. It's all been done so many times before, it's getting to the point of being comical, like kids in the 80's doing note for note copies of Yngwie Malmsteen guitar solos.
@ejotacero6 жыл бұрын
I can hardly consider this a copy of Jeff Mills style on the 909 and I think this is great.
@NachtSchreck136 жыл бұрын

Fin Glaeser already got it mate! Put the Tanzbär through a moog filter and that sounds pretty damn dope! Only thing with the Tanzbär is that its to small! And the build quiality is perhaps not the best... but the sound!

Does people know the Nava Extra 9? It is a TR909 clone and makes good result vs price (DIY)....
@Decoy3032 ай бұрын
It's cool if you know how to build it but most people lack the tools and skills of such a DIY; and without you'll pay an extra grand for a kit that's already put together by a third party that you have no guarantee that they themselves adequately put it together. I wouldn't buy one of these though used as people want $500 to $1k for these things and they have serious limitations even once connected to a DAW. Behringer RD9 is the best option and you won't need hamster fingers to operate it.

People who believe in the mythical power of an original TR909 are the same poor bastards who are willing to pay irrational amounts of money. (many) Blind tests have proven that no one can tell the difference between an original and 909 samples or 909 reproductions. And that goes for 303's, 106's, Jupiter 8's, Minimoogs, and many more. ...vintage is a myth. The only reason to buy and spend money on vintage is when you are a collector. This is the best proof. It's all about the cook. Not the kitchen.
