Money is all relative, so it's hard to say whether "it's worth it" to everyone. Definitely a great analog drum machine for those who can spare the cash. I love the hi hat sounds on that thing, they sound better on the OG than the RD-6.

Absolutely underrated! Great video! Crazy hats!

there is definitely something up with your 606, the hats aren't supposed to sound like that at all! 606 is my absolute fav drum machine, use it all the time. sounds incredible if you really push the volume on it (saturates really nicely), or if you give it some tasty compression :)
@SacSynths_Jack_Z3 жыл бұрын
Yes those open high hats especially sound wild! I kinda like the way they sound on his, but they may not always be great on everything. Definitely a unique sound LOL!

@@SacSynths_Jack_Z tbh i am a fan of the crunchy closed hat sound in this vid, very snappy noise bursts

Agreed. Maybe it's the way they were recorded?
@SacSynths_Jack_Z3 жыл бұрын
@@Pamberjack_I'd say it's more likely that there's a component in the hi hat circuit that is still "working" but is way out of spec due to use & age. A capacitor or op amp maybe...

I'm used to a more "musical" ringing in the hats channel with respect to 606s I've known and loved. Not as buoyantly resonant as the DR110, but much more cheerful than what you've captured here. Still, a delight to see and hear.

I didn't think about this until now, but there needs to be special holidays for producers/DJs. In this case, it would be today.

Been wondering that myself why tr-707 (which is digital) cost more today than tr-606? Perhaps people are mostly interested a solid drum bass and this without the mod can sound bit disappointing. You can still mod it to sound similar to a 808 drum bass if you have some soldering skills.

Mine is from the 1st revision series. What all units of these should have in common is, that the HiHat and Cymbal oscillators are tuned in different intervals compared to the initial series which i feel makes them sound better.

I already have the Roland Cloud TR-606, and I'm wondering if, in terms of sound, it would bring me something new or different to purchase the TR-06?

I think there’s something wrong with the hi hat circuit in this unit. The hats in mine sound a lot more resonant than the ones in this one.

The 606 is nice enough but I think the DR-110 is the real Roland sleeper.

I had one in the 80s and modded it to have individual drum outputs. We call it "Bam Bam" After not using it for a couple of years I lent it to my father in law. Eventually I asked my (by then ) Ex if I could have it back to be told that he had thrown it away when they moved house! Now I'm playing Brazilian music rhythms. I really wish I had it 😞

Wasn’t sure if you question is rhetorical? They are not a bad machine but personally, and I don’t think I’m a minority, I don’t think it sounds anywhere near as good as the 909/808(or even the 707)...I suspect the biggest factor is it just wasn’t used on anywhere near as many famous tracks. As we know, especially the 808, it’s drum sounds practically define a bunch of songs from that era...the 606?......err...nope .

I think even with the significant price difference, an Akai MPC One is going better serve beat makers, live performers, and music composers. Roland drum machines are too limited.
