I see allot of producers clowning this device. "I mean why can 't we all make music exactly the same way??!! Right?! " That doesn't really make sense to me in the least. 6 years ago I Put away my DAW and started playing all my notes. All my beats, performing and creating every note live. I can tell that this is an instrument with live performer in mind. A process of not just playing your music but performing it. Hey maybe you can do that with your DAW I don't know. But Your instrument gives back what you put into it and I believe that is the case here. I Can't wait to get mine.

You have only 6 Volume sliders compared to the TR8s / Tr8 12 I recall. What happens if you have a pattern that requires 7 or more instruments? - can you assign 1 or more instrument to a volume slider or are you restricted to a maximum of only 6 Drums/ instruments per pattern ? Many Thanks

No I dont think you can, Ive asked the same question, gone thru about an hour or so in other videos and read the PDF manual. Eg if you have BD, SD, LT, HC, CH, OH, then you cant have a RS playing also. The max number of tracks you can play at once is 6 because how can you control a channel slider with more than one instrument. Makes it look like a toy in comparison to the TR-8S.

@raffitchakmakjian4 жыл бұрын
having a bit of Roland gear, the price of the gear goes up as the number of included features go up. You're paying for the amount of features, not digital vs analog. Roland makes quality gear with quality sound, so you're also paying for Roland quality. The Drumbrute Impact is less versatile than this box.
@Claidheambmor4 жыл бұрын
@@chr1sdanger The DB Impact is a lean, mean drum machine for sure! The immediacy is the trade-off for a lack of depth. The TR6S has far more of everything, but here's a big catch - you have to operate it via that tiny two-line screen. I can't tell you how much that screen hampered my ability to enjoy the TR-8S. Maybe step loop for that roll? can you speed up the tempo on the roll? I will be using mine along with my Roland DJ 707M which will be sending tempo info via MIDI to the TR-6S. If I turn up the tempo on the TR-6S to achieve that roll increasing in speed, how will the tempo that Serato is sending out through the 707M react? Will the tempo adjustment on the TR-6S work when it is MIDI connected? I guess I could increase the tempo on the 707M and get the same effect but it would also increase whatever is playing at the time. Always fun and a bit challenging to mix up several different instruments. To really complicate everything, I am planning on bringing my Fantom and my MPC Live into the mix along with Ableton Live!

Hi, I currently have the roland Tr8 but maybe ill change it for this one, any thoughts?
@Flava_Clown4 жыл бұрын
If you can only have one or the other then the TR-6s is probably the better one, if being able to perform is not too important for you. The TR-6s might have less "tracks" but you have motion sequencing which the TR-8 for some reason doesn't have. With this you don't need 3 different toms as you can sequence the change of the tune. The same goes for the highhats, since you can automate the change of the decay you can use the same HH as open and as closed. Further the TR-6s comes with the sounds from the 606, 707 and 727, something you had to pay €100 extra to get on your TR-8. (both have the 808 and 909 sounds) Also with the TR-6s you can use your own samples and there is an FM synth. Anyway, if you can afford it and you don't need a portable device, I'd say the TR-8s is a better replacement for the TR-8. If I'd buy a TR-6s I wouldn't sell my TR-8. Even if having the TR-6s would make it kinda obsolete.

@@Flava_Clown Thank you so much for replying!! I’ve been looking everywhere bc Im starting to do live djing. I’ve been looking for the Pioneer As1, but I haven’t made a choice yet.. I’m thinking using the beatstep pro for the tr8 and the synth. Anyways, my djm450 is a 2channel mixer so I have the 2xdj’s in each channel and the tr8 is in the aux.. so, another issue that i’ve got is midi sync, currently I’m manually syncing but maybe if I’ve got the tr8 and the synth sequenced in that aux channel it’s gonna be easier to perform. My goal is to go full dawless, bc I could do the same thing with traktor kontrols, but it’s not that fun
@Flava_Clown4 жыл бұрын
@@sc_hdz I am not familiar with the XDJ 700 nor with the DJM 450, however I had a look at the product page and read the user manual a bit. Neither got Din MIDI, but in both cases the manual says that they send MIDI (start/stop and clock is what matters here). It's not mentioned, but I guess it's MIDI over USB. I don't know if you could use something like the "Miditech USB MIDI host" to convert the USB MIDI into Din MIDI so that you could connect / sync your mixer or CDJ to the Beatstep Pro (or TR-8 / As-1). As for the audio, the TR-8 got an "external in", which you could use for the synth without the need for a new or second mixer. Both, the TR-8 and AS-1 have a sequencer, so I don't really see the need for the Beatstep Pro. Both have MIDI Thru as well, so you could chain them, one way or the other. Also if you go Pioneer why not using their Toraiz Squid instead. It's a bit more expansive but I'd say it also offers more than a Beatstep Pro.

Looks like they added some serious semi-modular abilities to the TR-06. You should check it out!

@@antonmarek6377 cool stuff but as a drum machine for performance this one looks way better

So it's like half of a TR-8S?
@descry14 жыл бұрын
Same sound set, but you have less controls like a dedicated tuning knob per track. You also gain battery portability, but lose CV control

@@descry1 so same number of drum tracks just less faders?

Hidden Techno 5 less tracks, 6 instead of 11 on TR-8S

Come on roland, some ideas already seen in the Korg volca for $ 150. If I were looking for a Groovebox close to the price of the TR 6s, I would go for a $ 300 Elektron. Still I hope they will open their eyes soon and have a $ 400 ProMars Desktop analog with some improvements.

LOL the Korg Volcas sound awful and the Elektron Model cycles has a limited timbre. Wrong.

They dont have sound modeling, just samples

SEbP i couldn’t deal with the model samples it was too hard to get anything than on it. MC 101 is going to pair better with this

Good demo but to try to learn or get interested in the product, it’s very confusing. I was interested in purchasing the unit but after this, the demo is so fast and unexplained that I feel it’s far too confusing for a first time user.

First tr6s update should be unquantized recording and for the tr8s 2.1 and then they would be the perfect drum machines
