Hi there! Love your videos. I’ve been teaching myself the TR-8S mostly from your videos! Quick question. I’ve changed the kit and added in new instruments for a particular pattern, which I saved. But it seems to have applied that to other saved patterns. Is it possible to save patterns that use particular kit and instrument configurations? Thanks!

Bit late answer but for anyone seeing this: saving kit saves the selected instruments and its parameters like gain,decay, tone, effecfs Saving pattern saves the pattern and its Variations A-H and automation (recorded or programmed changed in parameters)

is there a way to play instruments from the pad or the inst play by seeing the step sequencer running and without recording it? in the tr8 you could do it, play instant play but at the same time you could see the stop sequencer and record when you wanted, as is done in the tr8s?

Have the factory setups changed since this video was created. I have a brand new tr8s. I'm following this video step by step. Nothing is matching or performing the same. For instance, TR-808 pattern 6-03 is called ChirpinOnClouds. Your video it displays ----, and sounds totally different. Not a huge deal, but when I save the kit and pattern as shown. All my variations have sounds programmed. A-F all have sounds. In your video only A has sounds. The rest are empty. Am I missing something, or have things changed since 2 years ago?

This is what i want to know. On some of the demos it is clearly repeating patterns multiple times like AABB. Can it jump around? Like AABBAACC… that would be helpful!

Thank you :) always really good to hear. So, you are not speaking about pattern variation A-H ? You mean chaining pattern? Like first pattern (1-01) has finished in H then it will jump to the next pattern (1-02) at A ?

@@jogonjoneth Hey, honestly I have to say not sure how you want to play 16 variations in one pattern. I'll play 8 variations and then manually change to the next pattern in my last variation before it starts with A again. I was reading somewhere about ,,chaining pattern,, like after pattern 1 has finished with all variations it will automatically switch to the the next pattern with new variations, like the ,,song mode,, on the tr8. But so far no idea how to do that. Cheers

Wenn ich die Kiste aus_und wieder einschalte, sind die Instrumente wieder da. Ich habe auch das Kit abgespeichert und dann den Pattern, trotzdem jedesmal das gleiche. Danke für deine Hilfe....

Hey, yes there is a way to do it. You can copy (copy button) the Variation A into ABCD and than E something different. When you don't have enough Variations just copy your pattern into the next pattern location than chain your two pattern together and you have 16 Variations and so on. Hope this helps. Cheers

Ja, das kann man machen. Einfach eine leere Variante sagen wir A auf B,C und D kopieren. Dann das entsprechende Instrument in TR REC mode auswählen und einspielen.

Hey, just move your kit to an empty Kit or before you move your kit, copy the kit to another place and than move your kit into to position you want.

@@christyamar You probably already figured it out but if this can still help, using your example just press and hold down the copy button, then press A and while still holding down the copy button press B and that's it, now you have an exact copy, hope this was useful

@@choppedstrandaudio4561since many updates of the software there are no empty kits and patterns from the factory . All of the 128 kits and patterns have data in them. How then should I go about deciding which patterns and kits to overwrite? Thank you.

What is the difference between pattern and kit? Why its separeted if in the end both of them is a pack o 11 instruments.

Well, your pattern is basically the steps you programmed into your instruments and your instruments all together with fx etc. are your kit. If you keep your pattern and change your kit you will have the same programmed patterns but different sounds because the different kit will probably contain different sounds/presets and samples. The kit is the overall (thing) and it contains sounds with different patterns. I hope that helps
