Is there a video for setting up and recording internal inside of the module Midi And audio and then opening or transferring over to computer for Mixing? This I would like to see. Please, Because on the TD50 module I had to Mix songs sitting on my Drum set. Not Cool. So I had to pull the TD50 Module off the drum set and bring it over to my Mixing desk via Midi just to swipe out different Instruments to better fit my song track. I really wanted to use my sound design that’s in Roland TD 50 and NOT USE DRUM SOFTWARE.

@robertlucas98673 жыл бұрын
Great playing and demo Nick. But $8000 for a drum kit with machine gunning sounds, no body, no sustain, just very sterile I can’t justify spending for this kit. The sounds have no body, it ain’t “THICK!” I attempted to adjust the sounds and you can’t make them sound natural with full sustain and decay but I can make the Pearl Mimic Pro have that dry short attack like a Roland. 🤷♂️ The triggers are 20+ years old on toms and cymbals, people can make them at home because the piezo pickup has been around since the 1800’s so they should not cost this much. $2500 for module is reasonable but the sounds are still decades behind Pearl Mimic Pro and drum VST software. If someone gave it to me, I would midi out to the Pearl Mimic Pro or a VST for better sounds but seriously this is over priced. I’ve talked to many drummers who say they are done with Roland because they charge to much.

Overpriced... yes, absolutely! But they are a business and they can charge whatever they want. If they could not sell those kits at those prices, they would not sell them at those prices. Regarding the rest of your post, sound is a matter of opinion and the fact that people can make triggers at home adds nothing to your argument. If you prefer the Mimic or VST's, go right ahead and use them my friend. Having the sound you want is what matters after all. This is the best kit on the market no question about it. I would prefer it being in a price range I could afford, but nothing will change that unfortunately.

Garbage. I fail to understand how we still can’t make an electric kit that sounds good (by that I mean real) We have the technology. It exists in the box already. Manufacturers are fixing non issues like making it look like a real kit instead of making it sound like a real kit. 🤦🏼♂️
@robertlucas98673 жыл бұрын
I agree, the piezoelectric pickups have been around since 1800’s. The bass drum uses a pad from a discontinued pad that was $100 brand new at the time. That bass drum alone would be over $1200 since the black 20” is around $1200 and the 18” around $1000 but it’s the same pad. These drums should not cost that much and Roland still makes terrible sounding samples.

@@jackaler5973 that's a reference to when the drum sounds, usually toms, sound like a machine gun instead of drums. This is usually caused by the lack of a difference in tones/samples within the module, so it's essentially repeating the same sounds as you play quick rhythms. It sounds unnatural.

@horaciococcioni85383 жыл бұрын
The sounds in edrums modules and keyboards don't sound as good as vst's and huge libraries because they are design for playing live, with ultra reliability, inmediate loading times, and ultra fast response with no latency. I imagine that a module that does that will cost a lot more money, and if you want, you can bring your MacBooks and audio interfaces into live playing. I think is far more important to see this as an amazing controller, with great dinamics, awesome look, and a module that reads what is happening perfectly. I'm a keyboard player, I also have a Roland td4 kit. My roland rd-700gx that I bought 12 years ago is a great controller and stopped my need for newer keyboards. My roland td-4, on the other hand, is an ok controller, but I really want something like this to use with vst for years to come. I actually think that the td-27 with the digital pads and acoustic like shells will be more than enough for my needs and my way of using it, but it's really cool that roland is getting this out there.

@@robertlucas9867 On the contrary, the fact that Roland can charge this much and still sell the kits is exactly what supply and demand economics describes. Sucks really hard that they can get away with these prices but if there was 0 demand at that price they would sell it at a lower price. For 8k, that thing should be blowing me and making me dinner as I play it! But it does not change the quality of the product. I've not heard the kit for myself yet, but I'm pretty sure SD3 and SSD V have better sounds. But for an out of the box, plug and play kit, I doubt it would not be at the top of all ''Best E-kit'' lists. I'm on a TD-11 with SD3 at the moment, but back when I had the TD-30, I VEXed the heck out of it and played without even thinking of a VST. It was so easy, just plug and play. I have better sounds now, but it is not push a button and play. That is worth a lot for many people. The % of DIYers and people who want to mess with VST's is not that high. I'm personally quite curious to see what Yamaha will put out to replace their flagship kits. In my mind the 950k was fighting it out with the TD-20 series for the top sport back then. I still prefer their TCS playing surface to 2 ply mesh head but the 3 ply has bridged that gap. That was a long time ago though. Alesis has been making quite a splash on the market and if their latest multipad is any indication, their next flagship could be right up there. Too bad we lost ATV, I was really hoping they would stick around. Really enjoyed their cymbal range.

Tried out in a store - what bugged me the most was the lag in cymbal choking. Unlike the real cymbals, it doesn't die instantly, but fades away very quickly. I reckon it's trying to reenact the slight resonance that stays even with real cymbals, but it felt a bit exaggerated and weird to me. Aside from that, it's great

I can wait for the day that we can take the Plexi glass down, remove the drum enclosures and control all sound in the room through the FOH! - sound engineers, production directors

I'm in the market for a home kit. My thinking was, you get all the sounds/editing/sampled sounds with this kit for a music room built in my garage which allows you to bang away later into the night or get a higher end Ludwig Maple kit with 24" kick. Do you think the VAD706 could pull off the live drum sound for recording? I have the Shure 4 piece drum mics and a few others to try to get a decent (demo) recording. Which is best for home situation?

I just hate being a guinea pig because I just bought the VAD503 last year and the V13 hi hat And don’t give me wrong it’s the most amazing thing that has improved my drumming live and just practice at home but, oh well be happy what you got right. I hope Roland at least gives us the ability to download some of the new acoustic VST‘s they put in the TD-50x. I’m gonna be really upset if they don’t because I’m not spending money on a whole new kit when I should be able to get download plug-ins.

Sound like from now on you are not gonna say depth by diameter, and you will say diameter by depth

WTF!??? If I wanted to lug around a set of full sized drum shells, I’d buy a real DW or Tama kit! The whole point of electronic drums was to “emulate” a real kit, while remaining minimal in size and mass. That whole kit should fit in ONE large trap case. Cymbals stacked on pads. Come on Roland, get it together, man!

Ah.. They have smaller more portable kits, ya know? Some people want the real experience without the real noise issues.

I have the TD50 and bought the X upgrade. You can get the TD50x sounding better than in this demo. But it's shocking how Roland went from "Oh look we've got rid of machine gunning" on the TD50 presentation back then, to "Oh well, let's do not focus on round-robin samples. That's just a VST gimmick no one will ever need on a flasgship module".

Ridiculous question!! From 0. 46sec - 0.56 sec mark what do you call the technique or maneuver you are playing? I love it!
