In the first few episodes I thought he's just another sidekick like typical buddy cop movies. But he turned out to be one of the best and multi-layered characters in the series.

I think the bar scene was right after they murdered Harris. He was really upset and feeling lost, so I think he had a death wish.

Nice compilation, but you missed the second best line in the Whitehead scene: “Might not stay that way, if certain people don’t back the fuck up.” Stephen Dorff needs awards attention for this in the fall. Both he and Ali, as well as Ejogo and McNairy, were superb.

STEPEPHEN DID A AMAZING JOB ON ROLAND. THE PROBLEM WAS - THE FIRST SEASON. ALAWAYS THE FIRST SEASON. TRUTH IS - I REALLY LOVE THE SECOND SEASON AS WELL. THE THIRD SEASON HAD GREAT ACTING BUT A VERY WEAK - NON CLIMAX PLOT. ALSO LOVED THE FACT THAT AT THE BEGININNG ROLAND WAS A PRICK WHO WANTED TO SHOOT WOLVES WITH HIS SERVICE GUN AND YEARS LATER HE BECAME A DOG LOVER.

What was missing in season 2 was Colin Farrell's partner. Witty banters , Verbal sparring, all of that. Supporting cast was way off IMO.

I've been watching True Detective 3, got about halfway through. Bored. Except for Roland. Now I'm gonna fast-forward through everything that doesn't have Roland in it. I feel sorry for Mahershala Ali. His dour-faced Wayne Hays doesn't have a dab of a sense of humor.
