Almost 1 year ago I decided I would be a drummer. Damn you Chad Smith and Drumeo lol. I went out and bought a an acoustic set. I seriously underestimated how damn loud drums are so a couple months later I bought a td-17kvx2. I upgraded the floor tom and the rack. I absolutely love this damn thing. I haven't touched my acoustic set in months even though I should spend some more time on that. Now this is coming from a complete nweb but my only complaints about my td-17kvx2 is the sounds. Some are ok I guess but most of them kinda suck. I bought an expansion kit from the e-drum workshop. Money well spent there. If I had to do it all over again I probably would have stepped up to the td-27 considering I bought that rack. At the time when I bought these drum kits I didn't realize I would fall in love with this instrument. Now I just need to spend more time learning the drums rather than watching new KZbin videos. 🤘

I don't know how many people commenting have actually played roland top of the line kits but the allmighty god of electronic drums is no lag and from the kits I've played Roland is by far the best. When you hit it you hear it there is no lag no delay at all they are far superior to anything else Ive played. Go play some electronic kits and you'll see for yourself that Roland is superior. The closest you'll get to actual drums and you can play them in your apartment without driving the neighbors nuts cause you can turn the volume way down or wear headphones and all the noise you'll make is some clicking and clacking that a radio or tv will completely drown out. You could play 24/7 if you wanted to and that alone is worth it's weight in gold. Yeah they are expensive but the heads last for years (I played the same set of heads for a decade) so the maintenance is little to none. I can't recommend these more highly

So from watching this, it seems that if you have a VAD 500 or 700 series currently, the only necessary upgrade needed would be the new module. And if you want to buy a new snare to toggle that on and off (which I doubt many people actually need to do). I am kind of happy about that because when I bought the last series, I was always slightly nervous they would go all in on USB thus making the next upgrade to be a full, all pads included, upgrade.

How is the rim shot ? I have the TD27 and digital snare and it's hard to get that high pitched reggae rim shot like on acoustic snares. Like: deep rim shot where you hit the head close to the center, while also hitting the rim, compared to holding your stick higher above at an angle, and hitting really close on the rim on the head while also hitting the rim at the same time, which on acoustic, gives you that high pitched harmonic that I love. Is this possible on the V71 and snare ? Also, is that snare compatible with the TD27 module ? I'd imagine they'd have to update the TD27 module to be able to use it on that module... That's what I'm most interested in, better hardware to module response so it's even more like acoustic drums. Also...lol Sorry, I know this is getting long, but, is there a bell zone on the digital hi hat on the V71 module ? *****QUESTION TO ANYONE WHO CAN ANSWER ***** Hi everyone !!! I'm trying to get this kind of reggae snare sound in this video I'm posting (below) at around 6 minutes in and 11:35min in. That high pitched crack when you hit the head as close to rim on an acoustic drum. I tighten the head more around the crotch area, and when I play reggae music, when I angle my stick and hit the head close to the rim, it's like a high pitched screaming kind of thing. Like a high ting !!! 😁👍 I can't get it to do this on my digital snare on the TD27. Have any of you tried this by chance or know how to achieve this ? I dont see how you can control the positional settings inside the snare, so the sensors closer to the rim can sound different. I do get lost in the settings though... I'm just wondering if this is possible, and if anyone can tell me the setting to look for ? The digital snare on the TD27 is a bit better then the one that came on my TD17KVX, but it's just still not everything I want. Close but no cigar anyways....lol Thanks ! This module has a very very important topic, which is not only interesting fur drummers, but also for all areas where people work (or play ) with fast and strong movements and perhaps sweating a lot. I mean touchscreen versus buttons/switches/faders. For years it was the top of technology and new to have the best tap and slide touchscreens. But while playing and with lack of time it is a thousand times better to have a bigger zone or plenty room with a lot of remarkable reference points than a surface, big as a smart phone with only 5 buttons, but 8 different layers of editing levels. Lets get 3 steps back but with modern logic and possibilities.
@matt09ward3 ай бұрын
Touch screen is hands down better. You want a large touch screen with a few knobs and faders to assign inputs to. Touch screen is just more versatile and then you have a few assignable physical controls for fine and quick adjustment.

Currently I have a PD-108-BC, PD-128-BC as rack toms and a PD-140DS as a 14" floor tom which gives a nice acoustic experience when playing. Will probably swap the 10" and 12" toms out for the PD-10X and PD-12X purely to get rid of the horrible hot-spotting of the 108 and 128! A matching PD-14X would be a welcome addition. @@TruthAndMoreTruth it uses 3 user editable /layereable engines including modeling, wav triggering and drum synth and usb-c with low latency for streaming SoundWorks directly through the module and out the balanced outs through the p.a. There are also multilayered and fully tweakable DW kits that load directly in. SoundWorks also lets you create your own kits with your own samples. 18x8 layers with 5 mics per drum… huge

I have had the TD 20 kit since 2009. I never was a fan of the snare sounds; they always sounded like a machine gun. I've been wanting to upgrade, but every module since the TD20 still had that lame snare sound. Well, I have a feeling that's all about to change. This kit sounds very natural so far. Time for a loan.

nothing subsantially better to justify upgrading from a TD50 . I will patiently wait for another generation

They look and sound great but in Australia they are just to expensive.

As much as I loved my kit, you just can't capture the response needed for a reggae drummer, sad to see the hi-hat has still not been developed further.

Calibration is step 1. Plays perfectly as long as they know what closed is via the calibration. They even recognize L&R hands and skin touch. Doesn’t get better and the new sound engine also allows it to recognize where on the Hats you are playing. Never been possible before

Reggae/Ska performance video will be released soon (Andertons)

@@michaelschack I'll be watching for that video for sure !!! (Question and thoughts for your upcoming video) I have the TD27 with the digital snare and I've been trying to get a good high harmonic rim shot like in reggae drumming on the snare.... Can you please talk specifically, IF, the V71 can do different RIM SHOTS ? Like close to the rim so it let's off that high pitched harmonic SCREAMING ring !!!!! I've been looking for any video for years now that showcases this. I'm mostly interested in module to hardware integration that puts edrums in the same depth as acoustic drums. That would be a great step forward if this is the case with the V71 and the new snare !!! Also, is there a bell zone on the digital hi hat now ? That again would be a great step forward. If not, I'll probably just stick with my TD27...lol Can't wait to see yer video !!!! Have a great day !!! 👍😁👍 Ps. For that matter, can you please do a video on how to achieve "the best rim shots on any edrums ?" There's none of these types of videos. I'm not sure if it's even possible, but that would be awesome !!! Maybe an explanation of what settings would help achieve this, even if it's closer to the acoustic feel of it. Thanks !!!!

14:43 I feel my efnote hats still play better than these. Haven’t done a gig where I need my palm in a decade.

Your Efnote sounds better than these too!

How is it that the older Mimic Pearl sounds so much more believable than the V71? I have both modules and sonically the Mimic Pearl sounds better. I can't find a natural sounding drum sample on the Roland V71 especially the kik. When played in rapid succession and in succession it sounds like a plastic bucket. I hope Roland will work on improving it.

Not blown away. Not that much different from the TD50. Same 3x USB triggers. What happened to Midi 2.0?

Sounds are average aren’t they?
@geevee78233 ай бұрын
@@sampilsbury9415 Definitely NOT average, just not that much better than the TD50. Roland are still leading, sound wise too.

@@geevee7823 14bit midi was already available in the TD-50 and then TD-27 too. It uses controller 88. See midi implementation guide.
