This epic match can be summarized in a few words: Sinner has one weapon, his baseline game, which is currently the deadliest in the game. Alcaraz has several weapons, not necessarily the deadliest, but which he can rely on and deploy at will. When Sinner couldn't hurt Alcaraz with his deadliest weapon anymore, he was lost. Alcaraz deployed all his weapons at will without fear and won the match. As simple as that. Sinner needs to work on a few other weapons.

As much as i was rooting for Sinner, Alcaraz thoroughly deserves this one. He showed greater adaptability, held his nerve slightly better, and came up with some genius shots. As for Sinner, his baseline game is enough to beat everyone else on tour. But he needs to incorporate some variety and improve his return of serve : The last game, he had three chances all from the deuce court and messed all of them up, by going too big, or not reading Alcaraz's serve.

For those who saw the full match, for almost a set and half, it seemed like Sinner was going to run away with the match. Eerily similar to Djokovic vs. Federer matchup. Where the Djoker suffocates Fed. at the baseline, incessantly targeting his backhand, causing Fed. to go ultra-agressive and hence creating a slew of unforced errors. But this is where i think Carlos has already established himself as an all-time great, not statistics wise, but supreme adaptability. He gradually turned the screws on Sinner, he became Djokovic-like, drawing Jannik into long rallies, and he was the one extracting errors, as the Italian went too big at times trying to get past the Alcaraz wall. Basically, Sinner buckled under the extreme pressure... he had his chances, though.

@@alexandrugheorghe5610 You obviously didn't watch the whole match. The first 4 games were good by Sinner, bad by Alcaraz. Then the rest of the first 4 sets was pretty shoddy by both, mostly unforced errors and not much at all to engage the crowd. I've never heard the crowd so silent. The 5'th set was better, but hardly amazing. So, no, not even remotely close to epic.

See Djokovic in Sinner and Nadak+Federer (Tenacity+movement/shot placement) in Alcaraz. They make up for the champions we will Miss next yr.

To win 25 slam you should have iron body and iron health. Only one time in 100 years this happened. Nole. These two guys are the future but they don't have iron health. Too many people not very fond of tennis.

Fun facts: (1) Carlos won by a -2 point margin due to poor choices in the first set. But he adjusted later. (2) Yannick was vastly inferior at the net, on drop shots and lobs, had fewer winners for a similar ratio of winners to unforced errors. (3) Both players felt cramps in the third set. Cramps are because players who use creatine and authorized stimulants need to use diuretics to avoid the water retention, and they don't get the dosage right. That's why you see those early cramps for very young players who still don't know their body so well (4) Carlos could be seen holding his bottom muscle three times during the match, where he probably felt cramping. This explains why he was relieved at the end of the match, it was a tough duel physically.

Great analysis. Do you know anything about those pre workout powders ? I took one the other day and felt really jiterry , anxious for hours . Are they bad .
@pureffm7 ай бұрын
@@ja-kl8rg I know that according to insider sources about 50% of the top 100 take one form of stimulant, and it is very typical to use diuretics to combat water retention from creatine, so dosage issues can lead to cramps. Some say diuretics are also used as masking products but stimulants are actually authorized with a prescription. I think the late Federer also used them, because he had vastly different concentration levels depending on the match. But it is most obvious for Djokovic who in the past used too big doses and ended up becoming agressive, shouting like a mad man at the crowd, etc. This is how top players can always play great in important moments, those stimulants improve reaction times and focus, it works a bit like Ritalin, it feels like you think more things per second and time is running slower. But if you dose them too high, then you can get anxious or angry as well.

@@ja-kl8rg yes, Guarana is a great, slow release stimulant. You should just have the look at the ingredients. Even folate And B12 can make you anxious, whereas B3 has a calming effect.
