This would be a neat system for a train simulator or even a racing simulator cockpit.

You actually won't necessarily feel any rough running when on idle and full rich mixture. Even when the plugs are being fouled. This is why we have to seperate the mags in the run ups to check for fouled plugs, this way we can feel and see the rough running on the rpm gauge also

Hi Rupert Smith thanks for sharing such great information and doing this demo tutorial, I use Thrustmaster Hotas warthog and Saitek combat pedal and wanted to know to tweak Saitek combat rudder pedals dead zones and sensitivity.Would you mind shed a bit of light on how you would config rudder pedals inside Windows,Ctrl panel, Device & printers game controller's? thanks in advance ...

Im very excited to see the diy transducer video, specifically the one which uses magnetic suspension. How would you rate the performance of these shakers compared to the ones which use dc motors?
@Rolandvanroy
@Rolandvanroy 6 жыл бұрын
DC motors cannot produce the higher frequencies, but they are good at very low frequency. The piston type transducers have a very wide operation frequency range, from low to high frequency.

The shaker looked to have about a 2 second delay from the flight sim. Is that true or is your video out of sync?
@Rolandvanroy
@Rolandvanroy 5 жыл бұрын
The video is out of sync. There Is hardly any delay. Touchdown bumps are felt exactly when the wheels touch the ground .

Thank you Roland, I Learned a lot by your video, but can you explain or do you have any tutorial to how DIY a transducer like your, did you built it from scrach or dis you adapt it from some component. Thanks for your response and thanks for the greet job you did for the community
@Rolandvanroy
@Rolandvanroy 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! The transducers I showed working were made from components that are used in an industrial linear motor (cryo pump). I'm now trying to replicate these with home made materials (the hand-made components and coils shown. But I need a lathe, so this is delaying the development, as I'm now trying to build a simple lathe for this purpose. :-)

The motion platform will of course be added again. I left it out for this video because I wanted to show how to add vibration only, which is doable for most setups, whereas motion platforms are not feasible not everyone.

This is awesome..I have a haptic feedback wearable vest.. Do you know if the shaker software will add these nuances to my vest?
@Rolandvanroy
@Rolandvanroy 6 жыл бұрын
As far as I know the haptic wearable vest like KOR FX have their own transducer amplifiers build-in. The shaker driver also includes the amplifier, so this is a conflict. You may be better off using the rumble card without amplifier. bffsimulation.com/BFF_Shaker.php Have a look at kzbin.info/www/bejne/maW8gpdvjtporJo to see how to get audio level feed from this card.

Can I use it on car games also, using the bff amp and software?
@Rolandvanroy
@Rolandvanroy 6 жыл бұрын
The current BFF software is designed for flightsimulators. But you can read at bffsimulation.com/BFF_Shaker_Driver.php that a future version will support car racing sims as well. Of course you can use the present BFF shaker driver with only audio input from the car racing sim, which should give already nice results (depending on the low frequency content in the racing sim audio)

Hi, do you know what the shaker-driver-amplifier board sends out - is it a voltage-output or a current-output? (Voice-coil actuators can be nicely force-controlled with a current, but depend on resistive or inductive impedance & back-EMF when driven with a voltage. Most "audio" amplifiers just send out a voltage proportional to the input.)
@Rolandvanroy
@Rolandvanroy 7 жыл бұрын
Indeed the Bass shaker driver sends out a voltage proportional to the input signal. The impedance of the transducer at the specific frequency will determine the current. Transducer impedance is resistive at very low frequency, then shows a peak at the resonance frequency and then rises as frequency increases. It more or less behaves as a speaker. The transducer magnetic spring (and optional mechanical spring) together with the magnet strength, airgap and piston friction and weight will determine the vibration output. A good design provides snappy well damped vibration over a wide frequency range. To achieve this is quite complex, but the transducers I showed behave really well (better than the Buttkicker in this respect).
