Role of CMR in Valvular Regurgitation

Dr. Dipan Shah started off his talk at Piedmont Heart’s iMAGINE 3-D Echo 360 Conference with a question for the audience: “You are reading a study in the echo lab. I want you to help interpret this case. What do you think the severity of mitral regurgitation (MR) is?” It was an eccentric jet, and the majority of the audience said they needed more information to confidently say it was severe MR. Shah, with Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center, said this is a situation where his institution would refer for a CMR study. He outlined how CMR (cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging) can help accurately assess valvular regurgitation.
