What is the difference between IT Ops and Tech Ops?

It generally depends from organisation to organisation . I personally think in product based organisations techops look after product specific technical operational activities like looking into issues, product configuration changes etc and ITops look into IT infrastructure operational issues like company physical assets like routers, laptops, monitor issuance , firewalls, etc. Where as in non product based organisations, ITops may look into any technical software and hardware issues faced by the organisation employees. What are your views?

Technologies used in techops generally depend from company to company. For linux based techops roles, the min requirements are linux shell basic commands which are covered in this course 2. having knowledge of any 1 programming knowledge is a big positive. good shell basics can get you job anywhere in techops

Hi Sanjay, there are few things it can depend on 1. what is your area of interest (QA or techops or anything technical good paying) 2. how comfortable are you in linux and shell cli utilities. there are basically 2 types of techops jobs exist. 2.a. purely technical techops who closely work on cli, terminal , cloud along with some internal tools 2.b another type of techops jobs are who work on semi to non technical stuff like using internal panels and tools to add/modify system configurations. 2.a type techops can easily (but with hard work and good technical understanding) transition to sysadmin/devops (in companies) or technical support software engineer (eg. in amazon) 2.b type techops roles have lower growth prospects than 2.a type techops.
