I agree the black dial with the stainless bezel looks better than the ceramic.

@@xekret Yes, if the bezel is steel then the black dial is the way to go. On the white dial I prefer the ceramic bezel, better contrast.

Love that watch. I remember when they were $7,900. But knowing I could’ve bought that watch for $13,000 a few years ago is just too much...so what? I missed my chance. Who cares? Especially when you can buy a 36mm Day Date in Platinum for roughly the same price.

They're pretty nice, but the dial does seem like a bit of a wash out from a lot of angles.

This is to MUNEZ Im sorry you feel that way! Their are many ways to remedy this.. Rolex and AP have managed to attain their status in the watch market. I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors but I would imagine that some of what you say is true! I love buying, owning and wearing these brands but to say I’m pathetic is a bit harsh don’t you think? I hope you are able to get the piece you want. I have no control over their preferences. I have managed to develop a strategy that so far seems to have worked for me. Hopefully you can too!

Once in awhile these older Daytona's start drawing me in. And then I realize I could buy a brand new 321 Omega Speedy for less money. I'm just going to keep my one Rolex I bought at retail and let the Wall Street Boys, the Bankers, and the Investors have the rest. I just don't care any more.

I own the two tone. As far as being functional it’s completely useless. The sundials are unreadable is most light conditions. I find myself using my speedy more for driving and cooking. Great piece for jewelry, but a terrible tool watch. 😂

Sweet jesus. I never ever thought i would be privileged to own a Daytona and yet I do lol. A little bit of background around acquiring this: If I’m honest I never even had this on my list with my AD. I was waiting for the sea dweller 50th anniversary…. I waited for a few months and was told that it would be coming soon. Anyway, I got the call from my AD saying it hadn’t received one but was offered a 2021 black ceramic dial with black dial instead. I couldn’t even believe it. It was a complete shock. Out of the blue. Ofcourse I immediately said yes but I was so pumped up I really didn’t believe it until the next day when I went to purchase it. I love it. It just hugs my wrist perfectly and is a great every day watch as well as a perfect weekend watch too. It’s light and the red Daytona signature on the dial is so un intrusive to the eye…. and yet you know it’s there. On a sadder note I still haven’t gotten the sea dweller 50th. Hopefully soon as I have been waiting 9 months…. He has a list of another 6 pieces that I am after too. I like to let the AD know that I am very flexible and am open to suggestions. This way I have managed to collect most of the pieces I wanted. Regardless. This Daytona review was brilliant. I have started to look at some vintage Daytonas recently but, in general, they are slightly outside my price range. I am also not sure about buying them on the grey market. I don’t know why but I just feel uneasy about it. It’s a psychological thing for me that I really need to get passed if I want to get into the vintage market. Once again great review. Clear and concise as always Mr. Mosser! Looks great on your wrist too!

So, let me get this straight.. You got a Daytona, you are waiting for a Sea Dweller, and the AD has a list of 6 more pieces that you are after... This is precisely the problem Rolex ADs have created for the brand, taking care of "preferred clients" and VIPs who buy watches in an excessive way and forget about the rest of us, who only want 1 nice brand new Rolex watch to own and pass along as an heirloom one day and not pay crazy grey market prices. I am not envious, you got the Daytona, a fantastic watch, I'm genuinely happy for you. How about now you get your name off the other 7 pieces so average Joes like myself can have a better chance of walking into an AD and buy 1 piece like in the good old days? I'm sure you will agree that owning such a high number of Rolexes is excessive and maybe even somewhat pathetic, don't you think??

@@rnunez70681 you really don’t believe in capitalism , do you? Oh just the capitalist activities in which you partake to afford wanting a Rolex yourself. Do you bypass money in your work or business so that others can have it? Why would someone bypass watches they want for other people they don’t know exist can get them instead? Hypocrite

It is a nice piece but it’s a mid-level luxury mass produced piece that at $25k seems to me to represent no value for money at all. Retail price maybe but I guess that’s the story of Rolex.

Daytona has always been selling well over retail since the early 90s I beleive, i also think it always will so nothing to loose by buying one. However I just don't like the symmetry of the case
@anonymoushuman89623 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you know daytonas I’m afraid. I am not a clairvoyant but these things in this configuration will always increase in value over time. Especially when they age, you have their box and papers and any work done on them plus you have all required maintenance done by Rolex. You can’t lose. PS if you want”value for money” may I suggest an omega or Cartier
@anonymoushuman89623 жыл бұрын
@@hammalamiri12 I agree with most of your comments except for the part about the “symmetry of the case”. Put it on your wrist and you will see what a wonderful timepiece it is. It’s a lovely snug fit that’s y obnoxious and relatively light to wear. Go put on a AP offshore chrono 42mm then see how that feels and compare. I own one. The thing is huge. It’s beautiful too but not does it feel like a brick lol. I love it. In fact I love 99% offshores and RoyalOaks. I am a huge fan.

@@anonymoushuman8962 I agree with you re Omega and Cartier. I have both. I also agree that they seem to make great investments. It’s just that at $25k there are some makes and models that seem to offer better quality than the Rolex - VC Overseas Chrono for instance. I guess the heart likes what it likes. It’s just my view.
