Before you judge me or anyone for liking homage watches,
there are many reasons why they make great time pieces.
If one cannot afford an expensive time piece, it is better to go for a homage rather than buying a counterfeit watch. At least you are getting a proper watch with a warranty, and you are not contributing to an illegal industry.

So pleased I ignored the negative comments on this page. I bought a Mathey-Tissot Mathey 111 and it has proven to be an excellent purchase. Could never beat this for value for money and it is a real bargain. Thank you for the review and I found that by having links taken out of the bracelet and fitted correctly to my wrist it sits comfortably well and looks just awesome.

I wish Orient would still produce that Day-Date homage. Since they discontinued it the prices went up the sky. Thinking about the Mathey Tissot, but I don't like the dial so much.

I agree with you totally. Orient should have kept the production as those are very good watches and I am sure they will sell lots of them. My biggest criticism of the Matthey Tissot is that the bracelet could be better.... but then at the price point, I suppose it could be worse. I am lucky I got those 2 Orients before they got discontinued. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I bought pretty much the same watch but I must have banged it around too much and now I believe I need to service it. They are very good looking homage watches but I wonder if the service will be worth it. The one I did buy ofcourse is automatic however. I like your editing skills by the way; I want to get better at it myself. Have a nice day sir.

Hi Raul, Thanks for watching and your comments. The automatic version is nicer than the quartz that I have. I am wondering if you can just get someone to replace the movement instead of servicing. It may be cheaper.That is what I would do with my Seiko Customs if the movements start failing. Good Luck 🙂

These Mathey-tissot are very nice, but they would look better if they had a 36mm or 38mm case. 41 mm was too big for this style of watch.

Hi Sunil. Thanks for watching the video. I am sorry I cannot help with this as the only Date Just Homage I have held in my hands is the Mathey Tissot. If I had to blind buy, I would imagine the PD1645 would be the one as I have some experiences with other Pagani design watches. They seem to be decent for the price point and very well spec'd. But that is what I would do. You will unfortunately have to find reviews on all of them and make a decision for yourself.

You should check with amazon as you bought it from them. I cannot say legally, but for they were the online shop where they sold the item. Check the sales description, perhaps it stated that there no papers. Also, maybe, the Amazon receipt is the warranty? Good luck and I am sure Amazon will respond as I found them quite good at resolving matter.

I have a Mathey Tissot as well and was wondering about these. As a side note, what is your experience with jomashop? I bought rayban aviator sunglasses off there and they sent me a fake pair so I will never buy from them again. Good review though

I think Mathey Tissots are very good value for money. I have their Pepsi model as well. I wear that in the gym when I don't want to wear my more expensive GMTs for fear of damage. With regards to Jomashop, I have only used them twice and only for watches (all Mathey Tissots). One of the Mathey 3s came with a semi dislodged logo inside the dial! It must have been happened during shipment or their QC prior to shipping is not so good. They were very fast in responding and then provided a partial refund. Not enough to pay for someone to repair the damage but better than nothing! That was the reason why I knew that these watches may not be worth returning to Jomas or the main factory in Switzerland for warranty issue due to return shipping costs. I guess I am semi happy with them but I would have preferred not to have had the issue in the first place and then having to be slightly out of pocket. I am sorry to hear of your experience. That is a tough question to answer because it depends on why you want to buy one? Also, the costs/ quality ratio is relatively to whatever other brands and alternatives are out there. The mechanical MT's are more expensive and I would go for something like an Orient mechanical watch, which is probably comparable in price. However, I guess the $140 MT must be a quartz based watch. There are very few reputable watch brands that will sell quartz for that price range. I am sure you may be able to find some Timex's or even Casios (perhaps a Casio Duro)! I would say that the build quality of the MT's are slightly below par of the Seiko 5's in my collection. I am talking about bracelet feel, weight of the watch, ease of use of the metal clasps; in short all things physical. I will not compare the Rhonda quartz movement with the Seiko 7S26 Auto movement, as its comparing apples and pears. See below link for my vid on a Seiko 5 which was modified. The pre modified watch was more than $230 USD, so once again more than $140 USD. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKiUhqd-rLmFnac I would say this in closing. If you want the look and design of an expensive watch, such as Rolex, it is always better to buy a homage rather than buying a fake/ replica. My experience of the build quality of MT is on par with the prices I paid. It is as expected for that price, nothing more nothing less. You will see in this very video that you commented on, that I have an Orient Day Date. That is a far superior watch in build and feel, but then it is 2 to 3 times the price of a MT and that is if you can find one for sale. Hope that helps and good luck. If in doubt see the watch before you buy it.

For me it’s drawback with any of my watches if I can’t swim with it. I only buy 100% waterproofed watches because I go swimming on a daily basis in ocean and need to know my time.

I believe that this watch and this company is an epitome of the problems of the Swiss watchmaking today. MT claims to be a watchmaker and boasts of its history, but let us be honest, they stole the design from Rolex, they put it movements that they do not produce (ETA, Ronda), the only thing they do is put SWISS MADE on the bottom of the dial and you are paying throught the nose for that. By the way the quality of the watch itself is very mediocre and comparable to Chinese counterparts like STARKING. No design, no quality, no engeneering, no craftsmanship involved.... This is a complete disgrace.
