So who sold the Rolex watches to the grey market dealers then? My guess is Rolex dealers and they probably shared the profit.

That's what I wonder, too. There is a strong BUT: Rolex is producing around 1 mio watches per year. If you see a lot of these watches on the related re-seller web portals, then we're talking about a number of maybe 10 000 watches. This is a huge nuber, but still, it's only 1% (!!!) of the annual Rolex production. In other words, a fraction. Definitely NOT the majority. Not even 10%. We got the watch quite easy: a dealer in a relatively small town. Probably some supporting factors, such as having teenage kids that are interested in watches (future business). Probably a changed sales policy of the dealer and maybe of Rolex, too. Presently the topic is getting easier, maybe because of the boycot, less money in the pockets of the people, and the fact that banks come back and start to pay interest to savers. Probably in a year or two, you can pick up the watch right away. Like it used to be until 2018...

Hi Elie, Your're certainly right, the blue and the green motif dials are absolutely close. I went to the AD, had a look at botrh, tried them on and then decided to have that one. I don't think the green motiv is overloadwed or whatever, I just liked the blue one more. I have loads of blue shirts, jumpers and things, while e.g. other people are wearing more green stuff (that I don't have at all...). That's what it is. Noithing else, at least as for my case.

@@Eliehbk Take whatever you like. I myself like both (!) motivs. I just checked the Rolex website. The motiv dials are not available at this point in time. Only mintgreen, bright blue or whatever is available in the specific shop(s). Maybe, you can still order it, because they have some remaining dials in the stock, no idea... . To me, it's as previously mentioned: matching to your clothes would be an idea, or whatever is your preferred colour. A Rolex Datejust is an absolutely classical timepiece in good quality and so versatile to be worn. Good for formal occasions such as weddings, a day at the beach, helping on a farm or fixing stuff in the workshop (just don't forget to clean it later...😉). If you're still looking arund, there are other watches on par, too, e.g. Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra or Cartier Santos, just to name a few. And- there are more affordable watches that are of basically the same quality level but definitely better priced. But- Rolex is Rolex (with all pros and cons...). Wishing you luck!

Beautiful watch. This dial is called bright blue fluted motif. I love the smooth bezel. The 36mm is the king. The first thing I do before wearing my watches, I replace metal bracelets with leather straps.

So sorry, the bezel is called domed. But anyway 🙂. To my understanding there is no better or worse regarding (metal) bracelets or leather straps. it simply depends on the use of the watch, the occasion if you will. Leather bracelets are fine in hot weather and perfect for a dress watch. In a steamy, oily or dusty working environment I think they are misplaced. And- if you have a pin buckle on it, it lasts for a year or so. In that case, better use a folding clasp, then they last almost an eternity. Metal bracelets like the one of this DJ are sturdy, they can be easily cleaned (ultrasonic) and fluids are no big deal. So- no big surprise, I have both on my watches.

this version of rolex new dial . i personally prefer the gold tone version the best. this blue is ok but not quite discernable from a distance. the golden version the pattern on dial can be very easily seen quite some distance away. there seems a green version too...not sure. i have only seen the gold pattern version

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. There are some green versions for OP (strong green), DJ (green palms, mint-green) and even the Sub ("Kermit"). I will present a green OP in one of my videos in December or January. Apart from that, I like the golden / everrose Day-Date with a dark-brown dial (there used to be one in brown with small golden squares, so beautiful). But- you have a taste, I have one. If you like this and I like that, that's fine, isn't it?

Beautiful watch in classic 36mm size. I didn't know ADs can accept orders and place the exact configuration. Is this a new Rolex AD policy? Just one observation on lug to lug - it's doesn't seem right I think it should be about 43.

Hi Ravi, First of all, thanks for your comments, and yes, I agree, it does have that "certain something". Configuration: On the Rolex website, you can configure your watch, finally you get a type number and the price in the country from where you open that site. That's what I did and then went to the dealer where it was ordered. I was told, I'll have the watch as soon as it arrives. Then, exactly 10 month later, I received that call. Lug-to-lug: The lugs are the two spring bars where the strap or the bracelet is mounted to the housing. Technically seen, these spring bars are axis (staps turn auound them) and the width / distance between axis is always given in center-center. I just re-checked it, actually the lug-to lug is 38 mm (rather than 37 mm in the video). If I'd remove both spring bars (including the bracelet ...), I could give you the distance even more accurate. I use a mechanical caliber with a resolution of 1/20 of a mm. Your "about 43 mm" are precisely 43,25 mm, however, that's not lug-to-lug but overall length of the housing (which is something different). Kindly come back if you have more / further questions.

The overall length of the case (12 to 6 o'clock direction) is precisely 43,25 mm, however, that's not lug-to-lug but overall length of the housing (which is something different). Sure. If you just have that one watch- what else should you do?. On one side, 2 tone watches have this official appeal without being too showy. On the other side it's a tool watch, but still a very expensive one... .

What's your view on the known 32** series movement known issues reported all over on forums? E.G. there seems a known issue whereby the second gear pivot wears too fast in this series. It's very accurate initially, but after a year it starts to lose -8 seconds etc. Rolex don't admit a problem. But they have to go back for relubrication, and in some cases parts replacement. I have found no fix published. But then again Rolex are not going to admit it.... Check the internet my friend for the details. This ongoing issue with the new movement has been making me think twice..... Anyhow I like the dial, hope it doesn't hit you also.

To my great surprise, I have heard about problems so far with the 3235 in particular. Just heard. I'm not wearing it, but so far, my understanding about Rolex was always that their watches are indestructible. My watchmaker- friend, who is not a Rolex concessionaire, still told me about a year ago, they have the best movements, usually I do not need a single part when servicing one… . No idea, if those issues have already arrived at his doorstep. However, let me share my idea about this topic: Rolex relies on this image of the “perfect” watch. No break down, super quality and equally sturdy movement. That’s their asset. I estimate the production costs (!) of a 3-hand steel Rolex at approx. CHF 800,- (US-$, EUR, all more or less the same) a golden one probably + CHF 5.000,- (material costs for approx. 100 g AU), however with the movement having a share of approx. CHF 400,-, definitely NOT more. Given that Rolex is allowing a re-seller margin of 35%, even at an official price of CHF 5000,- for a steel OP, they have a turn-over of CHF 3250,-. If finally, it turns out that the movement isn’t as good as customers expect, they just have two possibilities: update the whole thing an change it whenever it comes to service, or suggest the customers pro-active a free service and get the thing fixed. If it should finally come up that the movement is not what it promises, they well get in dire straits… What I can do- I know someone who is extremely well connected to the Rolex world. I will ask and I’m sure there will be a substantiable reply. I will then give an information update. Please allow me some time, since I’m presently with my “day-job” abroad on another continent, and not yet at my final destination (a further continent…). Hope, that’s O.K. for you.

@@watch-checker fyi. As said there are quite a few forums where people have gone into it in great depth using timers. Conclusion seems to be premature wear that will on occasion manifest itself in very slow runner.... Having been initially very accurate. So your unlikely to see it till then it seems. Anyhow Google out Rolex 3235 movement issues and have a read. There are some very long threads from 2020 and 2021. I am not saying it affects all watches using this series. But people certainly are not reporting the issue on the past 31** range. HTH.

The watch was worn by 4 differen people. The one at the beginning or e.g. at 3:00 has the biggest wrist with 188 mm circumference. In that case, the Dayjust was worn with all the links, in total 2x 4 fixed links + 5 removeable links with screw bolts. No extra links were used and the bracelet-extension was unused. The other persons have a wrist circumference of 150.. 155 mm. They used only 2 links with scew bolts, 1 of them with the extension used.

Why not? I used a caliper to check... . And I just re-confired. But, I'll be making a video on this issue to pull this straight once and for all. In brief: the two lugs are small pins with a diameter of approx. 1 or 1,5 mm diameter. Depending on the design of the housing, they are sometimes outside, sometimes integrated in the housing. Now, since these pins are cylindrical objects, the dimension is taken axis - axis (a technical standard), not from inside to inside or from outside to outside. The particular Rolex Oyster housing has a bezel outside diameter of 35,3 mm, but the lugs are located underneath. That's why. Kindly subscribe my chanel not to miss that video. However, it will be produced in approx. 4 weeks, because until then, I'm more bussy with my main job (as an engineer...). Kindly understand.
