Rolex Milgauss Z Blue Review - Will it be Discontinued? 116400GV

It’s just a little fun in the Rolex range. My wife wanted one next to her Datejust 41 and when we showed interest we were fortunate to receive one last November through our AD with hardly any waiting period. Word is that they haven’t received one for almost a year but we’ll never know what happens behind the curtains at a Rolex AD. The way it plays with the light on the z-blue dial and green crystal really is mesmerising.

They already popped in price ! If they do discontinue this watch the price will only increase by more. The Z Blue has that gorgeous Sunburst dial, that coupled with the orange accents it’s certainly a eye catching piece and very underrated.

No other watch with a similar crystal, apparently Rolex didn’t even patent the design because it’s so hard to replicate.

I believe it will defiantly be discontinued next year now due to the air king update. Updating the air king this year they are trying to make people think they are gonna do the same with the milgauss next year, but surprise it’s gonna be gone. Also I think they did plan to discontinue this year but changed there mind.

I bought one yesterday from an AD in San Francisco. The price was $9,300 US before tax. I had no previous history with this AD and I only had to wait a few weeks. It was a remarkable experience. I've purchased more expansive watches previously (Omega Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon) but buying a Rolex was different. It was special. And the Milgauss is simply gorgeous.

It was always a niche watch, that while fun and interesting, no longer has a real functional reason for existing. I would love to see the heritage and current design maybe slightly tweaked - but repurposed for a new different, or related "step-niche"

True, but does any mechanical watch have a functional reason for existing? The magnetic shield idea does need to me made more tangible, though

@@denniskai2331 I agree with what you say. As a materials scientist who was working with magnetics, I appreciated the celebration of magnetics more than the actual implementation. Id buy a Daytona if I were a sports car enthusiast , but I wouldn’t time my km/hr with it. But, Id be happy to make requests to Rolex! Please upgrade to the Syloxi hairspring and add a metallic glass bezel. I guess they could finally ditch the shield.

Thank you greatly for the beautiful shots and views of the watch. I am not a fan of Rolex overall, but I personally love this watch. I specifically love the lightning bolt second hand, as it makes the watch so unique and I've never seen anything like it. The green sapphire crystal is to die for, and I absolutely love this watch. I'm honestly not a big fan of Rolex as a whole, but this is going to be the next luxury watch I purchase. I will say I would LOVE to see a movement upgrade in the watch. However, just placed a reservation on the blue dial version at a local AD. Now let the 2+ year wait commence 🥲
