I would want it if I didn't have a breitling avenger that looks so similar. Where I think lies the answer. The yachtmaster doesn't have the history of the submariner to bring it to the top. Ym is competing against a lot of similar watches with only the brand name supporting it. I imagine a lot of people are like me where they want a collection diversified by brands as much as complications.

I had the YM Rhodium and for a while thought it was thhe perfect Rolex. Thinner than the Sub, beautiful dial, curved case. All those things still stand, but what made me sell it is I started thinking that the design looked a bit derivative/generic. The curves made it very elegant but also lost a lot of the design cues of the professional range. And the platinum bezel had no contrast with the rodium dial. The watch looked a bit generic. Still a fantastic watch, but does not sit in the same rank as the Subs, GMTs and Daytonas im my eyes.

Great advise Charlie. I've bought the Daytona panda and the OP41 with the yellow dial on the grey becase both were hard to get and now discontinued pieces. I do get from time to time some nice pieces from the ADs like most recently I got the submariner with the new green bezel mark 2 so I'm happy about that. However, I've been trying to get a pepsi jubilee and a batgirl for years and haven't been able to get them from any of my ADs so I think I'm pulling the trigger on a pepsi jubilee soon. I'm tired of waiting for it and who knows what's going to happen with the manufacturing issues with that piece. Great content as always!

Very nice watch! If you are going to wear and enjoy then yes, if you are going for a quick flip it can be quite slow to move on, as the smaller watches are more desirable with lighter coloured dials 👍

Just want to understand the gmt production issue topic lil bit better. Is there some more evidence except that reddit post speculating or do we actually have some more robust data which helps to back up that story? Don’t get me wrong, I am in the lucky position to own a Pepsi (bought it on the grey for almost double the rrp but still worth it cuz the watch is amazing) so I am wouldn’t be against it if you know what I mean. The sleeper observation about the Yacht-Master is that it has the polished body of a Daytona but with the movement taken from the Submariner. Thus if you are considering being a one-watch guy, this one is right up there.

If you are saying you are just over RRP why go to the grey when you can go to an AD?😂 surely you would have to be under RRP to be worth and I feel a fair bit considering buying direct from an AD your getting a buying history and building up a spend if you pay 300 less from a grey you get nowhere. Plus your getting an AD guarantee on what you buy. If grey market and AD are neck and neck on price it’s a no brainer

I’m on multiple lists at this point. I saw someone reviewed two local ADs local to me and he said he had a short wait for sky dweller and sea dwellers. Said he waited less than two months supposedly. So I went to both of those ADs who put me on the list. One said I won’t see one until at least Christmas and the other said 2 years. So I said to them what did this guy here (showed them the reviews) do to get on the list? Neither of them could answer which tells me it’s an inside job. Completely! It’s a ridiculously stupid thing to deal with.

Stop quoting last years stupid hype prices as if people are getting a deal now in comparison. If a Yatch Master is being sold at list price by grey dealers, that means you’re buying them under list price. So if I’m in the market for one, why would I go to a grey dealer to buy one at list price? I might as well go and buy it from an AD where I know 100% the watch isn’t fake, and I can build up my spend, which in return allows me to purchase more in-demand watches at list. What benefit do I get from going grey? There are very little benefits to purchasing from a grey dealer. The only time it’s good to go grey in my opinion is if a watch is significantly cheaper to purchase, because it’s secondhand, or if it’s a discontinued model that you can no longer get from a AD. Remember people. If everyone went grey and stopped shopping at ADs, grey dealers would have no new watches to sell!… always go to the AD first before considering going grey.

Many people already have gone to the AD only to come up empty handed. Is this news to you?? Paul Thorpe just came out with a video within the last day from a visit to Geneva. basically you are just telling the public to go to you and not the AD.. ok ok we get it. but if we get a good model from the AD we get to use that spend and hopefully get more, when prices go back up and demad shifts it wont help buying from the gray
