A paean to Rolex. They thank you. The vast majority of watchmakers can service a Rolex at 1/3 the Rolex price. However. Rolex is now a luxury brand. Not the "tool" watch it was 30 years ago.Those aspirational middle class folk who desire to appear "rich" will continue to service and buy the watch from Rolex. A cheap Chinese watch (e.g the Steeldive 1970) has the same specs as a Rolex Submariner, aside from the movement. At 1/200the price! Almost all mechanical movements now have much in common. That Seiko NH 35 is *almost* as a good as the best Rolex movement in regards to accuracy and longevity. BTW, it's impossible to overwind a properly lubricated automatic watch.

If you don't have this most basic of knowledge, then in my opinion you shouldn't be wearing a Rolex or any other higher end timepiece....you should wear a Gshock and be done with it.
