Rolex Vs Nomos (which would you go for ? )

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39 Red Grape and Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Petrol.
Both are in-house colourful automatic entry models into each brand.

Love the Rolex - but the Nomos wins on pure elegance (and the view of its stunning movement). Both are great watches for sure!

If I’m going with the watch head only, I’d choose the Nomos. If I’m taking the whole package, including the bracelet, I’d go with the Rolex. High polish bracelets get absolutely trashed with minimal wear and can be a bit blingy. The oyster bracelet has none of those issues. I’d take the Nomos on a strap because of the water resistance, legibility, and my color preferences. That said, both are great watches that will serve the wearer well for many years.

Thats fair enough the Rolex is 6 years old now and is still keeping 2 seconds a day the 31 Calibre is very impressive, but if we all liked the same things the world would be a boring place

Mine arrived today (the Nomos club sport neomatik petrol) and it looks fantastic in person. I bought it to replace another green dial watch which is slightly too large for me (a 42.5mm green Raymond Weil Freelancer with 51mm lug-to-lug). The nomos is a much better fit on my 17 cm/6.75 inch wrist. The freelancer size wasn't too bad, but it also has flat lugs. The curved lugs on the Nomos fit better.

Hi Barry, this was a more even comparison than I would have thought, particularly considering the cost and status of these two watches. Rolex and Tudor bracelets are the industry leaders frankly, and they're getting better all the time. Either would make me happy, or the excellent Sinn 6068B that philthy suggests in his comment. Love the pointer date, I have the Oxblood big crown pointer date with the SW200 movement. I'd be sorely tempted by this, but one little gripe I have with this and the auto version with in house cal, is the seconds subdial is tiny - Nomos use much better proportions. Their warranties aren't as extensive I don't think (Tudor is definitely 5 years), but Rolex and Tudor are 10 year service intervals.

True 10 year service interval is very impressive Rolex use their own oil. I can't remember the name but its a little thicker than 9010 and lowers the amplitude a bit but lasts longer Chris

Great format for a review and fun comparison. I suppose I'd go with the OP as I've never owned a Rolex and need to scratch that itch eventually. Both are beautiful, though.

Right now, I'd go with one of the new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 39 over an Omega Aqua Terra or Rolex Oyster Perpetual. They're that good.

@@yusufbest4475 Yeah same as the Rolex Milgauss and some IWC model or watches with a silicone balance spring only problem is with silicone is if you damage it a watchmaker cannot repair it if needed you would need a new one

I do like the Nomos after all I own a Club Campus just a shame there lugs are so long it doesn't matter so much on the smaller models but the larger ones... The Rolex just feels so solid and special and the 31 calibre is a dream to work on and possible the best movement ever made by Rolex

Forgetting the price and availability… Rolex. Nomos looks great, but I prefer the dial without numerals. The Rolex bracelet looks superior, but I like the Nomos display back. Super review as always.

I wouldn't worry about that unless you work some where were there is high magnetic fields , A demagnetiser is cheap to buy and well worth owning if your into your watches

That would require making it thicker. Part of the appeal of Nomos watches is their slim, lightweight cases. I recently purchased the petrol club sport shown in the video, and the thickness was definitely a factor in my decision.

Think it really comes down to how much you value the bracelet. Rolex Oyster bracelet is one of the best bracelets on the market, period. Nomos is definitely not gonna beat them there. But in my opinion, Nomos wins in pretty much every other category, and for £1000 less. Regardless, both gorgeous watches and you can't go wrong with either.

Nomos is a brand I'd love to love but I just can't. Their watches are perfect in so many ways, and many of them should be idea for smaller wrists but they just aren't. The lug to lug on their watches are far to large in proportion to case diameter. In this example the rolex is 2mm bigger in diameter which isn't as insignificant as it sounds but the Nomos has a larger lug to lug..... WHY?!

The new Aqua Terra costs is the same price as the used Rolex in the video Sir and a Nomos Club in Automotive form costs £2,7K.

Ive just checked and the new price of the Oyster Perpetual 41(£5,500) which is less then the price of a new Aqua Terra and a bracelet £5,750 here in the UK , This is the beaut of Rolex apart for having a solid movement everyone believe they are really expensive my friend
