It doesn't beat the terrific Caravan track you posted recently from that same album but this is really great ! Thanks.

@MarinaLaroche I'm glad you enjoyed Caravan - I really like it too. Roll 'Em goes way back to 1937 I believe, and I know Benny Goodman had an arrangement of it back then. I'm betting Harry James was still in BG's band when he was playing it, so it probably brought back fond memories for HJ. And Roll 'Em was written by none other than the First Lady of Jazz, Mary Lou Williams -- just a spectacular jazz pianist and composer who gets far less recognition than she deserves. Thanks for the comment!

Rather meaningless to record "direct to disc" on an ordinary LP. To leave out the tape recorder doesn´t improve the sound quality a bit, not at least of what you can hear! But of course, a great tune!

@jourwalis I'm not sure if everyone will agree with you on that. I do know the Sheffield Lab setup with minimal components between the physical sound and recording media, be it master disc or tape, creates a clarity of sound that you don't hear on many other recordings. I've heard others say it is too bare or "naked," but I like it. Only problem is the dynamic range is so wide that the soft passages can be difficult to hear, as I experienced recently trying to listen to some of these tracks on an airliner. And of course, whatever we hear on KZbin and the internet has been digitally transferred anyway. I'm glad you enjoyed the tune, and thanks for the comment!

A pair of hard earned Klipsh Heresys circa 78 and a hundredth of a watt can tell you different. Fabulous recording of a fabulous band FABULOUSY...played parties in Disco times and no one was a wallflower. Real, powerful, some of the best live ever.
