Jeff Lynne's 68 years old here, he's 74 now. What a star Another GENIUS. Long may he reign....

Superb HAP. Jeff Lynne at 70+ years of age can still do it all aided and abetted by a great group of musicians. Thanks for an honest reaction 👍😊

Jeff took Chuck Berry's R & B version of this and added Beethoven's 5th and his own rocking twist and made this epic version.

What a feat it must have been to pull this off!! Great reaction to a great performance!! I love the classical instruments mixed with traditional rock songs! 🌻💛🌻💛

ELO’s signature encore song for decades. It was a minor hit they had in 1972. The ladies are the band’s featured string players. Who knows why they were mentioned in the video title.

Probably because the Langley Sisters are a fairly renowned group themselves?

That is a great iconic song! Especially the guitar 🔥❤️. You would be surprised how many people love this song. 🥰

The original song by Chuck Berry is viewed as one of the original songs _defining_ rock'n'roll music, and the wikipedia page on it lists several other ways it is acclaimed. And it is also a song covered by many, for example the Beatles. ELO's version is probably notable for mixing it with parts of LvB's 5th. Which I think works great.

Heyup Hapz, a classic ELO hit. I'll be surprised if you haven't heard the studio version. Rosie & Amy were on the strings I believe.

Wow, takes me back to my childhood when Chuck Berry did this. Guess I'm partial to the original, but this is interesting.

Wonder what Beethoven would have thought about his music becoming rock. Of course he wouldn't be able to hear it since was deaf thanks to being beaten by his own father! 😠 He still wrote amazing music like "Ode to Joy" and conducted orchestras even after he lost his hearing.

John Lennon said Jeff Lynne was the best musician he ever knew. He was also George Harrisons best friend. Oh by the way the Beatles did this song in 1964 give it a listen just flat out Beatles no orchestra but that is the magic of Jeff Lynne he is a serious musician still going strong

Had no idea ELO did this song. I know it from Chuck Berry or maybe the Beatles? Such an educational channel you have here :) I'm so very behind with KZbin videos......

The Beatles did it also but the original elo version is the best.

The Chuck Berry original does not refer to good old droog Ludwig van other than in the lyrics. But I believe you are right about a few notes being used throughout, in addition to the beginning, which I think is almost straight from the 5. symphony ("Fate"), and at the end.

The original version by electric light orchestra is heads and tails better than this version of Jeff Lynne's elo. It's good but not as good as the original.
