Pro tip: I actually figured out that inverting the direction of the curve to the outside allow to animate by moving a curve not a plane. This is cool when you wanna a plane to stay still. It's kinda hard to explain cause this modifier works extremelly counterintuitive but trust me ;) Just set the direction to the outside and move that badboy to the left and right to check how it works. It also inverts a plane upside down but still it is much better than movining the plane.

How to roll the scroll without moving it. That is move the curve and have the bend of the scroll. Currently, either you move the curve or the scroll, it will roll into the curve. I want the scroll to stand at its location.

the curve modifier for what ever reason does not work in in 2.83, like in this video. Seems that the issue is mesh converted to curve. If you start with a curve then everything works.

I used this technique to roll and unroll a map (image as plane). Using your tutorial, I reversed the direction of the coil so that the map is unfurling instead of rolling up. Now I am making another with the coil direction going inward to re-roll the map. The animation works fine but it turned the image of the map backward. Any suggestions? (I am very new to Blender).

Is there any way to export thins into FBX to use inside Unity3D? Would really appriceate the answer :)
@seanfan843 жыл бұрын
While i was implementhing this tutorial with a camera focus, I found the animation wrong. when you roll a scroll, the edge should go dirrectly to the center instead of following the curve, then shrink in diameter in the animation. it is probably good as a game asset, but as a movie clip, you see the scroll slide in to a guys hand. I am just pointing out the issue without a solution, however i do appreciate the basic tutorial.

@LetTheWritersWrite9 жыл бұрын
move the cube to another layer and uncheck the layer in your render. You can also go to the object's options and uncheck all the render options I believe. I'm not next to a computer but didn't want to forget to help you out. hope this helps.

That's a slid over animation. I've done a realistic roll up animation in Blender before. Wow, the difference is amazing. Sadly it takes a lot of time and patience to do. Btw a roll-up animation in any 3D program is a major pain in the ass.

How can it be that after you have applied 10 cuts and added a subsurf modifier you have only 4 vertices shown in edit mode? You're supposed to have way more based on the cuts alone. Also what's the point in making a plane when you'll just end up with a line?
@diamondglitter2057 жыл бұрын
they are two different planes. there are no built in mesh line in blender, so he had to get it from a plane
