That’s a strange wheel design in those doors. Super popular here in Australia 🇦🇺. Best option for that is to cut a 2 inch square tube (50 x 50mm) and taper it both ends so you can screw it onto one of the spokes of the door and that’s what the prongs grab onto. You’ll find the prong gap is almost always about 2 inches (50mm).

Your can bolt on a steel block weight to the door behind the handle to help get the door started by itself.

I’m trying to install one on mine, but my new opener has to have board replaced. Only thing I did different was I cut the inside of the end cap on roller door to fit the opener. I noticed on your door felt strips are on your drum up top, mine are on the door left and right side top to bottom not on drum. Yours seems to opperate smooth on the way down.
@Mr.Handy-ish10 ай бұрын
Not sure if I'm reading you right..my doors have felt all along the side (where it is in the tracks). None that I can see ON the drum. Mine doesn't always go up and down perfectly...sometimes it shimmies a bit. Works, though!
@timd559710 ай бұрын
Okay I didn't see that yours is riding in the track. Mine clunks and shimmy's especially on the way down. I'm thinking it is because the high and low spots on the garage door ribs are not nesting tight together then on way down slack in door slips causing noise. Think that's what felt is for maybe adding a middle strip as well.
@Mr.Handy-ish10 ай бұрын
@@timd5597 yeah...the felt is to quiet the door and make it slide easier. Mine does what you describe a little bit (not enough to worry or bother me, though). I wonder if some silicone spray on the tracks and felt occasionally would help it slide.
@matthewjohnson2495 Жыл бұрын
You need to add a piece of 1-1/2 x 1/8 angle to the bottom of the door. No more weight than you are adding the opener can handle it and that little bit of weight you add will help keep the curtain tight when the door is traveling downwards. Trust me and try it and ask me how I know

@@Mr.Handy-ish After a butt load of trail and error: SW2 corresponds to the 4 buttons on ANY remote. Once you program your control unit to 'talk' to a remote, then the settings on SW2 determine which button is 'listened' too. SW2 Top to bottom (position 4,3,2,1), corresponds to remote buttons SMALL(4), SMALL(3), LARGE(2) and LARGE(1) So in my implementation, the large door has SW2 set 4=on, 3=off, 2=off and 1=on The small door has SW2 set 4=off, 3=off, 2=on and 1=on This config results in this behavior Top small button opens BOTH doors Next small button opens ONLY small door Next Large button NO OP Last Large button opens ONLY large door yeah, it's complicated.

That's a great question. I don't have a good answer. It came cut back, and I never considered it. I've been running the first one I installed for a couple years now and this one since the publication date on this video with no issues, though. Perhaps it has something to do with the motor being DC. Oftentimes, DC electronics don't have a dedicated ground...but I'm only Handy-ish, and no electrical engineer! Sorry I couldn't help more. @@Mengles134 They are not the easiest to figure out, for sure. On page nine in my manual it mentions a "learning button" for the control box. It was only button near the small switches that control each of the buttons on the remote control, so it was a guess. No other buttons in there that I could see.

They've really been great... I'm quite happy. I forced them to work on doors they're not made for (brand/style), and they're still dealing with my modification without fail. The range is good on the remotes, too. I haven't had any kind of failure yet, on either of my two. Thanks for watching and for the question!

@@Mr.Handy-ish what size opening are they for? I don’t see how wide the door is..
@Mr.Handy-ish8 ай бұрын
They could handle different height or width doors, it just has to match the END of the door roll...where it "plugs" into the roll needs to be right style. That's why I ended up cutting bits off of mine. I'm not great at explaining this, because I'm not an expert, but if the end of the roll matches the "prongs" on the opener, it'll work. The manual mentions it can work with different height doors, but I don't think it mentions width. In the community tab of my channel, I posted pictures of the manual. Might be of interest to you. It's the last thing I posted there.
