Thank you so much!! I just discovered you channel and I am so thankful. Before I pay thousands of dollars to replace my electronic shutter, I will try and fix it. Do you know anyone in Satellite Beach Florida that would be able to try and fix the shutter for me? Thank you.
@hugoanson2135 Жыл бұрын
Thankyou; but when you slide the slats back into pisition, is there something in the design to be checked or fixed so the slat doesn't easily slide out of position again? Did I miss something or does it just work well until it shakes out of pisition?

How can we grease the parts? One of ours is making a really rough sound. Thank you very much!

Probably the slats moved out of position and they're rubbing.

@elmateo62410 ай бұрын
I have this exact same design in Puerto Rico. What’s the cure if the motor turns the shaft up and down, but the slats stay put? I evened out the slats laterally but no joy. I tried manually turn the roll, and still no. Thanks!
@elmateo62410 ай бұрын
I figured it out. The securing straps riveted to the “axle” were seperated allowing it to free spin. A great company in Miami had the replacement metal straps and all is well!!

Hi Doug. One would think the company would have added guilds to keep the slates in place. Great fix and explanation has always. All my best. Bobby
@electronicsNmore7 жыл бұрын
Bobby Tectalabyss Hey Bobby. I'm sure newer versions have them, or the ends of the slats have plastic inserts to keep them in position.

When it wasn’t working in the up mode but did in the down mode, did the motor make any noise at all when you tried to turn it up?

It made noise up and down, but when it reached a certain point going up, the motor stopped.

Hi Doug - I was impressed by your video on the hurricane shutter repair. I have a similar looking one that is hank crank...probably from the mid 90’s? One of them is stuck in the down position and I am wondering how to repair the manual operated one like I have. Trying to avoid having the shutter company come and completely remove unless it is not worth repairing. Location is Cape Cod. Do you have an email address I could send pics to? Thank you!
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
You need to remove the cover. It's possible one slat is jamming it up.
@emilykethler52303 жыл бұрын
I actually removed the crank handle from the inside of house ... it wasn’t catching the gear. I have a pic of it - not sure if the gear is also seized but looks like the end of crank that slips into gear may have rusted and broke or just wore off enough where it doesn’t catch in the gear. Channel . Could I put something like tape around the end of crank handle to make it bigger and see if it catches ? Trying to avoid just having the shutter removed and trashed as that costs a pretty penny in itself! Thanks for your help ! I have pics if you have an email,

Also I really appreciated your tip to drill out and replace rusted screws with stainless steel - is there a particular size screw that is best? Thanks so much

Is there a way to keep the shutter sections from sliding to the side? I'm having that problem repeatedly.
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
Make sure the slat that's bolted to the steel motor tube, is perfectly straight(level) on the tube. The side rails, where the slats enter, at the top, should have the aluminum bent outward to guide any slats out of position, back into line. Thanks for watching!
@jciempre6 жыл бұрын
hi, is there any change of video about of remove the rolling shutter completely ? means not only repair the motor ? tks
@electronicsNmore6 жыл бұрын
Hello. Removal is easy. Lower the shutter fully, then remove the screws securing the shutter to the 2 1/2" pipe. Next disconnect power and remove the wiring leading to the motor inside the tube. The entire assembly is held in with bolts at each end. Usually you remove one end and tilt the assembly down then pull it out from the opposite end. Thanks for watching!.

Yes. Just drill them out and replace with #10 x 1/2" pan head stainless steel screws coated with anti-seize compound.
@cvccrs96974 ай бұрын
Why would cause a shutter to randomly close? Ours just started closing for no reason. You can toggle the switch to open it back up, and it will stay open, but then the next day or a couple days later, it will close again.
@laharl2k7 жыл бұрын
That looks like it has 50 years plus. What kind of humidity does that? Here we have 70-80% most of the year and do not get rust like that. Or maybe because of the rain and the cover not keeping it humid longer.
@electronicsNmore7 жыл бұрын
Stainless steel screws eat away the aluminum when salt air/moisture is present. The ocean is 75 feet away from the rolling shutter.

@electronicsNmore7 жыл бұрын
Yes, probably $1,500- $2,500 each for the size shown in this video. The steel parts probably were galvanized, but not a thick layer to stand up to years of salt air.
